Okay, this is just between you and me because it feels sooo dorky to admit, but the Star Wars trilogy may or may not be the reason I wanted to go to film school. My aspirations have changed as I’ve matured, but I still pay homage to my whimsical youth with two framed A New Hope posters in my living room. They’re charming, retro, and perfectly match my red couch and dark wood bar.
So, you can imagine my joy when I found these photos of a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away, starring a little boy as Han Solo and an adorable older Dachshund as his best friend, Chewbacca. It’s kind of the perfect imagery, and it’s captured beautifully by a photographer and designer from Mexico named Rocio Preciado. Her business is called Cuije Photo, after Preciado’s late dog friend.
Just like the friendship between Han Solo and his Wookiee co-pilot, there is a profound sense of companionship between this little boy and his dog, conveyed warmly in Preciado’s series of gold-toned photos. Watching the accompanying behind-the-scenes video, you can feel yourself slipping away to those late summer days of simpler times, when all you needed was your imagination and a good friend.
Check out the Cuije website and Facebook page for more of Preciado’s whimsical and lush photography, which includes dog as well as family photos.
