A pilot program was voted on and passed by the New York City Council allowing “pet harbors” in Brooklyn. An alternative to simply tying up your dog outside a store, pet harbors are safe and secure places for pets on sidewalks. A Brooklyn company called DogSpot had previously offered dog harbors with air conditioning and lockable doors in 2017, but prior law had banned them. Under the rules of the pilot program, companies like DogSpot may once again offer dog harbors on city sidewalks outside of businesses. The pilot program will last for at least one year.
