From stylish mats to dog sofas, there are countless ways to spoil your pup with a luxurious place to sleep. But pets can be selective about where they nap, and not every dog bed works for all pups. After all, competing with your own bed and pillow is a high standard for any pet bed on the market. That said, if there’s one company that meets the standard, it’s Nest Bedding.

If you’ve shopped for mattresses, you might’ve heard of Nest Bedding. While the company is known for making sustainable mattresses, they also cater to four-legged family members with their Bolstered Pet Bed. The bed is handmade with pet-friendly and eco-friendly materials and is thoughtfully crafted to fit dogs and cats. It also has a bolstered design, which maximizes comfort and provides support for your best bud no matter what stage of life they’re in.

Having purchased many dog beds over the years, I’ve found the Bolstered Pet Bed to be one of the best. Not only has it exceeded my standards for a dog bed but it’s become one of my dog’s new favorite spots to nap.

About Nest Bedding

Nest Bedding Dog Bed

What is Nest Bedding?

Nest Bedding is a family-owned company that sells high-quality mattresses and bedding. The company was founded in 2011 as one of the first to develop the bed-in-a-box concept. From there, they expanded their inventory to include other products like pillows, sheets, and blankets. While most of their inventory is made for humans, their Bolstered Pet Bed is designed for four-legged companions.

With a commitment to quality and sustainability, all of Nest Bedding’s products are handmade with natural materials. Their headquarters are in California and they have showrooms across the United States.

Who is the Bolstered Pet Bed Best Suited For?

The Pet Bed is a great natural alternative to traditional donut beds. The non-toxic materials make it ideal for dogs with allergies and the bolstered edge provides orthopedic support for senior pups. While it’s not the best fit for large breeds (even the large is on the smaller side), any small or medium-sized pup is going to love this bed. Cats will love it too! The material is soft and the donut shape is perfect for furry friends who like to curl up and snuggle.

Bolstered Pet Bed Overview

Nest Bedding Dog Bed

Finding a quality bed for your furbaby can be hard, but Nest Bedding makes it easy with their Bolstered Pet Bed. Crafted with natural materials and built to last, the Pet Bed is the perfect addition to your pup’s home accessories. Between the plushy feel and bolstered design, it’ll become your best bud’s favorite spot to nap.

What to Expect

The bed arrives in a standard cardboard box and comes tightly wrapped in plastic. After cutting off the plastic, it takes a few seconds for the bed to fully expand and puff up. Once it fluffs up, you can place it in your pup’s favorite napping spot or wherever they like to sleep.

The bolsters and center pillow are connected and there aren’t any zippers, so you can throw the whole bed in the wash for a quick clean. For the best results, wash it on a gentle cycle and hang it to dry.

Sizing

The following three sizes are available:

  • Small (24 x 7”)
  • Medium (29” x 8”)
  • Large (35” x 8”)

This is an ideal bed for small and medium dogs. While Nest Bedding doesn’t specify a size limit, I wouldn’t recommend it for dogs over 55 lbs. I got the large for my 54lb Standard Goldendoodle and it’s a little small. Even if you’re deciding between two sizes, I would recommend sizing up.

Materials

The bed has a simple design. It’s made with canvas cotton fabric on the outside and 100% green waste recycled plastic on the inside. Both materials are breathable and durable and the inner filling is non-absorbent.

To ensure safety and sustainability, Nest Bedding only chooses materials that are CertiPUR-US certified. This means the bed is made without chemicals and synthetic materials, like heavy metals, phthalates, and formaldehyde. This also means the materials have been tested to meet rigorous quality, performance, and durability standards.

All beds can be returned or exchanged within 30 days of delivery.

Key Features

Nest Bedding Dog Bed

Quality and Durability

Pet beds need to be durable. Between dog drool and sharp claws, it doesn’t take much for fabric to get dirty. That’s why Nest Bedding makes their bed with high-quality materials that hold up against wear and tear. The cushions are sturdy without being stiff and the filling is encased with thick 5 oz canvas cotton fabric.

Comfortable

This is a great bed for dogs that like to burrow and snuggle. It holds its shape when your pup lays on it and the donut design hugs your pet when they curl up in a ball. Both the outer and inner cushions are pillowy too, providing the perfect amount of orthopedic support and comfort for your four-legged friend.

Design

The bed is donut-shaped with a bolstered design. Many pet beds come with a zipper where you can remove the exterior cover, but with this bed, the exterior is not removable. Instead, you can throw the whole thing in the wash if it gets dirty. The bolsters and inner cushion are sewn together as well, so you can’t detach them or remove the inner pillow.

Eco-friendly

If you’re looking for a natural bed made by a sustainable brand, this is the one to get. Nest Bedding only makes their products with certified organic and natural materials, and the pet bed is no different. The outer layer of the bed is made with 100% cotton canvas and the inner fluff is made from recycled plastic.

Is the Bolstered Pet Bed a Good Value?

Nest Bedding Dog Bed

The bed ranges from $99.00 to $179.00 depending on the size and is competitively priced when looking at similar products on the market. While it is a bit pricey, it’s made with high-quality materials that are safe for people and pets (it’s also kind to the planet). Every bed is handmade in the United States too, which can be hard to come by with pet products.

Bottom line, I’d say the bed is a great value, and honestly, if your dog uses the bed as much as my doodle does (literally every day), you’ll get your money’s worth.

Our Experience with the Bolstered Pet Bed

Nest Bedding Dog Bed

If you’re reading this review, you’ve probably searched the internet for the perfect bed for your pooch. I did the same when I was shopping for my Goldendoodle, Micah. If there’s one thing Micah loves more than my bed (and pillow), it’s his own bed, so it was important for me to find something I knew he’d love. After hearing about the Bolstered Pet Bed, I was excited for him to try it out.

Similar to a traditional bed-in-a-box, the Pet Bed arrived wrapped in plastic and scrunched in a standard cardboard box. Even though it looks squished on arrival, it fluffs up the minute you cut off the plastic.

One of the qualities that drew me to the bed was its minimalist, bean bag-like design. It’s made with an outer bolster and an inner pillow that are sewn together to create a donut shape. The outer material is canvas and the inner “fluff” is made from recycled plastic, which is something I never would’ve guessed based on the squishy feel.

I love how simple and stylish it is. A lot of beds can go out of style or look awkward in different rooms, but Nest Bedding’s Pet Bed looks great anywhere you put it. I moved it around my house a lot before it made its home next to my bed. Even though Micah has plenty of sleeping spots (including furniture) throughout the house, he goes out of his way to find this bed for an afternoon nap.

Despite being soft, the bed is really durable. The stitching is tightly woven and I’m not concerned about Micah ripping a hole in it anytime soon (even with his routine of pawing the cushions before lying down). Some beds deflate when a dog lays on them but this one is sturdy enough to hold its donut shape. It’s just the right balance of soft and firm and perfectly squishes when Micah takes a nap.

The bed is a little smaller than I’d like, especially since it’s the largest size they have. Micah can’t sprawl out on it without his paws and tail spilling over the sides, making it more of a luxurious, plushy cushion than a bed. But Micah still loves it and chooses to curl up in a tight ball over hopping onto my bed almost every day.

As far as cleaning goes, I’d say the bed is fairly low maintenance. It does get dirty fast due to the light color but you can throw it in the wash for a quick and easy clean. One thing I’ll note is the bed barely fits in my washer. Because of this, it’s not something I can wash at home, which is kind of a bummer. But if you order a small or medium bed (or have a large washing machine), this shouldn’t be a problem.

Conclusion

Overall, this is a high-quality bed that’s well worth the price. It’s comfortable, supportive, and eco-friendly and is perfect for pets that like to burrow and snuggle. As one of Micah’s new favorite napping spots, I can attest to its comfort and design. If you’re looking to spoil your pup with a cozy and functional dog bed, you really can’t go wrong with Nest Bedding’s Pet Bed.
