Whether they’re a toy, miniature, or standard Poodle, there are very few pet owners, or even non-pet owners, who don’t know how gorgeous, loving, and intelligent a Poodle is. However, many pet owners don’t realize that there is a National Poodle Day. National Poodle Day is held on October 7, so make sure you mark your calendars.

There is also a National Standard Poodle Day that is held on January 6th every year. Today, however, we’ll concentrate on National Poodle Day, what you can do to help, and some fun things you can do if you attend with your Poodle. So join us!

Where Is the National Poodle Day Event and Parade Held?

National Poodle Day is a big event, and Poodle owners everywhere travel to Carmel, California for the parade and festivities. From pizza parties to wine tastings, there is plenty to do when you’re celebrating National Poodle Day. Poodle owners can take their dogs to the beach for off-leash fun, and when their pups are worn out, they can relax with them and enjoy a few cocktails.

Tips for Celebrating National Poodle Day

While there’s plenty to do when celebrating National Poodle Day if you’re in Carmel or willing to travel there, you don’t have to miss out just because you’re staying home. There are plenty of things that you can do to celebrate National Poodle Day with your favorite Poodle.

Provide Delicious Treats for Your Dog

If you enjoy cooking, National Poodle Day is the perfect time to bake treats for your favorite furry friend. Your canine pal will certainly appreciate them, but it’s important to ensure the ingredients in your dog’s treats are healthy for them. Your veterinarian can provide suggestions for dog-friendly recipes, or you can splurge and buy commercial treats your Poodle loves.

Take a Trip to the Dog Park

You can take a trip to the dog park with your elegant friend to honor National Poodle Day. You’ll likely find other Poodle parents there with their pets. It’s the perfect time for you and your Poodle to socialize and play. Even if you don’t meet anyone there, you can still be sure that you and your Poodle have a good time bonding together.

Volunteer/Donate

Another way to celebrate National Poodle Day is volunteering at your local animal rescue shelter. You can help other animals and the shelters that support them. If you don’t have time to volunteer, you can always donate instead. Rescue shelters always need extra food, medical supplies, and treats for the animals in their care. Your donation could go a long way.

Final Thoughts

National Poodle Day is held on October 7th, and while it’s a national event, the festivities take place in Carmel, California, where they have a big parade and events that celebrate the Poodles in our lives. If you can’t attend the events in Carmel, you can still celebrate at home by going out with your Poodle or volunteering at a rescue center or animal shelter. Even if you can’t help the shelter animals, you can still celebrate with your Poodle in the comfort of your own home. Spending the day playing with and hanging out with your Poodle is an excellent way to show your appreciation for one of the world’s most intelligent and loving canines.
