Like all human-animal relationships, the bond between dogs and their dads is a treasure. National Dog Dad Day gives men a great opportunity to show appreciation for their pups and foster a stronger bond. This day was first celebrated in June 2021 and it is celebrated annually on the day before Father’s Day, which is June 18 this year.

Let’s learn more about National Dog Dad Day and the best ways to celebrate it.

What Is a Dog Dad?

Even if no one asks, dog dads will gladly share the random minutiae of their pet’s life with anyone willing to listen. A male can adopt a young puppy or save an elderly canine and give them a good life, earning the title of “dog dad” at any age.

We can find one easily in the park because he usually stands alone and watches his pup play with the other canines while holding a leash and a bag of tasty treats!

Why National Dog Dad Day Is a Meaningful Day

It Motivates Us to Devote More Time to Our Dogs

With our busy lives, it may be difficult for many dog parents to spend enough time with their pets. This day will make every dog dad more aware of the importance of spending quality time and having fun with their furry friends and other owners in the community.

It Strengthens the Bonds in Your Relationship

Having fun activities with your pet on National Dog Dad Day can help you create beautiful memories. These memories can be carried forward throughout the rest of the year, strengthening the bond with your beloved animal for the rest of your life.

The 7 Best Ways to Celebrate National Dog Dad Day

1. Take a Long Walk Somewhere New

Most dogs love to travel with their owners to new and exciting places. You can bring your furry companion to a beach, park, or nearby trail you’ve always wanted to visit. And if your animal is frightened of unfamiliar people or things, go with their favorite path.

2. Bake a Tasty Treat for Them

There are tons of recipes for homemade dog-friendly biscuits and cakes available online. Making something from your home ingredients for your furry companion is very exciting, and they will adore whatever you gift them.

However, if cooking isn’t your thing, you can just pick up your dog’s preferred gift on the way home.

3. Give Your Dog a Small Present

Did you make an excuse to purchase that bed with your animal’s name embroidered on it? Or perhaps you saw a cute pet bandana but didn’t have the occasion to get it. If so, you may want to take advantage of National Dog Dad Day to splurge on fun gifts your furry friend will love.

4. Organize a Pet Playdate

Does your canine have any other furry friends? By organizing a playdate, you can assist them in celebrating this special day together. Or you can take your pup to a dog-friendly park to make lots of new pals.

5. Donate to an Animal Shelter in Your Area

Donating to help other dogs find their new homes is a thoughtful way to how much you care for them. You can also volunteer for or adopt one if you can.

6. National Dog Dad Day Pictures

A lot of us have entire albums that are just for our dogs. Take advantage of all those pictures and choose your favorites to celebrate National Dog Dad Day. Then share them on social media, print them out for a scrapbook, or create a new travel mug.

And if you don’t have many pictures of your furry friend, let’s utilize this day to do a photoshoot with them.

7. Tell Your Dog You Love Them

Tell your dog the words: I love you! Not only people enjoy hearing those three little words. It is very straightforward, easy, and crucial to strengthening your relationship. Therefore, don’t neglect to express how much they mean to you.
