They can be territorial and protective of their owners, making them ideal watchdogs and guard dogs.
As far as children, they do well with them if raised with them and do better with older children. Training is essential for these dogs to make them suitable family companions and to prevent the possibility of having to rehome the dog. They require high-quality dog food appropriate for their age and adequate daily exercise of at least 1 to 2 hours.
