When it comes to finding an ideal beach destination, Anna Maria Island is a great choice for both you and your family. From beachside restaurants to expansive parks, you’ll find plenty of ways to have fun and relax while soaking in the Florida sunshine. But are dogs allowed on the beaches of Anna Maria Island?

Unfortunately, no. Dogs aren't allowed on the beaches of Anna Maria Island. The beaches are regulated this way to protect the wildlife in the area as well as their habitat. These areas include common shore birds, sea turtles, and shellfish. But this being said, you can take your dog to the local parks and dog-friendly restaurants in the area.

There are also plenty of other parks and beaches near Anna Maria Island that you can take your dog to, which we’ve covered in this guide.

Conclusion

Anna Maria Island is a charming place to travel with your family and friends. It's important to note that Anna Maria Island has no public beaches where dogs are allowed on the sand. Though not all areas are dog-friendly, there are many places that can accommodate your four-legged friend. You can take your pup hiking, to the parks and dog-friendly restaurants in the area, or check out the local beaches and calm bays on the north side of the island.

These are just a few of the best places to take your dog on the island. Before you head out to the beach, make sure to check whether your destination allows dogs on the beach or if there's a nearby park where they can roam off-leash.

When you arrive, it's always a good idea to keep your pup leashed while near the water and make sure to clean up after them. Be sure to also keep your dog on a leash at all times when outdoors except the parks, so that they don't disturb any wildlife or other pets.

I won't come back here! this is ridiculous. I've never been to a beach that a dog was not allowed. My pet will be in our room all day while I am at the beach.

Hello Kim, thank you for your message, although we are very sorry to hear about your experience on Anna Maria Island beach. Unfortunately, not all beaches are dog-friendly and it is up to municipalities to set their rules, although we may not agree with them. Luckily there is plenty of alternatives, great beaches that you can visit even with your pup and enjoy the day under the sun!
