Who Makes Holistapet Dog Treats and Where Are They Produced?
All Holistapet products are made using all-natural hemp from farms in Oregon and Colorado. However, many of their treats also contain other ingredients, and those may be sourced from elsewhere. With that said, the company does state that all the ingredients in their products are natural and organic. They do not use artificial or synthetic ingredients in their products.
Holistapet is made in warehouses in Los Angeles, California. The company owns these facilities, so they are able to control all the safety guidelines these facilities follow.
Which Types of Dogs are Holistapet Dog Treats Best Suited For?
CBD has many proposed benefits for dogs. For instance, Holistapet states that their treats may lead to:
- Relief from skin and muscle pain and soreness
- Reduced nervousness
- Better mood
- Improved sleep
- Healthier coat and skin
- Better digestive health
However, you should keep in mind that many of these benefits have not been studied. Therefore, while there are many anecdotal claims, the scientific evidence isn’t yet there to back them up. For this reason, we don’t recommend that users use CBD treats for serious illnesses, though they may be utilized alongside your dog’s current treatment plan. CBD does not interfere with many medications, but you should still speak to your vet before using CBD if your dog has any underlying conditions.
Instead, we mostly recommend these products for dogs with minor problems. For instance, dogs with anxiety issues may benefit from CBD treats. Minor skin problems, muscle soreness, and minor digestive issues may be treatable with CBD, as well.
If you need to speak with a vet but can’t get to one, head over to PangoVet. It’s an online service where you can talk to a vet online and get the personalized advice you need for your pet — all at an affordable price!
Discussion of the Primary Ingredients (Good & Bad)
As you’d expect, one of the primary ingredients of all the treats is CBD. Each treat includes a full-spectrum hemp extract that interacts with the body’s endocannabinoid system. Therefore, these treats may have an effect on your dog’s pain, inflammation, digestive problems, anxiety, and other troublesome behaviors.
Beyond that, the treats do differ slightly based on what they were made to do. The mobility treats contain turmeric, for instance, which may have anti-inflammatory properties to reduce joint swelling and pain. Boswellia is also included, which may help repair damaged tissues. Much of the ingredients used aren’t backed by tons of hard evidence, as they have not been studied extensively.
On top of this, many of the treats contain flavorings. These vary depending on the exact flavor. For instance, the mobility treats are pumpkin spice and cinnamon flavored. As you’d expect, they include pumpkin spice puree and cinnamon.
All three kinds of treats have slightly different flavors and active ingredients. Therefore, these treats don’t just use CBD.
Testing and Safety
CBD is highly unregulated, especially for dogs. Therefore, it is vital that you choose a company that provides proof that their treats include high-quality CBD. You’d be surprised by the number of brands that don’t actually contain much CBD at all.
Luckily, Holistapet provides a third-party lab test report for their products. You can view these results directly on their website, which will tell you the quality and amount of CBD found in their products. Several products were tested by the lab, which helps you determine the quality of each treat separately.
Customer Service
After testing out the product, we also tested out the company’s customer service. The chat option on their website allows you to easily ask questions without filling out a support ticket or waiting very long. The chat button is in the corner of the screen on every webpage, so you do not have to go looking for it.
The customer service agents answered all of our questions quickly, providing links to more information when applicable.
If you don’t want to use the online chat feature, you can also give them a call.
Our only complaint about the customer service is the design of the AI bot when you first initiate the chat. To speak to a real person, you have to select “talk to an agent” directly off of the list, which is a bit hidden. If you select a different prompt like “product questions,” then you’re only provided with a generic list of products.
Treat Types
There are three different types of treats this company offers. One for mobility, one for wellness, and one for anxiety. All of these treats include different ingredients on top of CBD. Therefore, the one you pick does have some effect on the end results. However, all the CBD is the same in each treat type. It’s just the other ingredients that change.
With that said, each treat type is only available in one flavor. For instance, the mobility treats are only available in pumpkin spice and cinnamon. If your dog has joint problems, that’s the only flavor available. Therefore, if your dog doesn’t like that flavor, you’re a bit out of luck (unless you settle on the wellness treats).
This is exactly what happened with my large Husky. He has separation anxiety, so we regularly have to provide him with CBD when we plan on going out for more than an hour. Based on this, he should consume the calming green apple treats. However, he wouldn’t touch them. However, he did like the pumpkin flavor, so that’s what we ended up giving him most of the time (despite the fact that they are designed for mobility).
In the end, we found that these treats were effective for his anxiety even though they were designed for mobility. However, we can’t help but wonder if the effects would have been even stronger if there was a calming flavor he liked.

Reviews of the Holistapet Dog Treats We Tried
1. Calming Relief CBD Dog Treats
These treats are specifically designed to calm your canine. As you’d expect, they are made with full-spectrum CBD, which is true for all of these treats. However, these calming treats also include chamomile and L-theanine, which may help with calming, as well. Chamomile is one of the few natural ingredients that has quite a bit of scientific evidence to back it up, as well.
These treats are advertised as green apple. However, peanut butter is actually the first flavoring included. With that said, even though my Husky loved peanut butter, he didn’t even try these treats. (Of course, my smaller Shih Tzus ate them right up—but they eat just about everything.)
Overall, these treats do seem very effective. Even during the 4th of July fireworks, my smaller dogs (who would eat them) stayed calm and quiet (for the most part). Plus, there are lots of other reports of great calming effects, as well.
- Includes chamomile and other active ingredients
- Popular peanut butter flavor
- Effective
- Easy to administer
- Only one flavor available (and one of my dogs didn’t like it)
2. Wellness CBD Dog Treats
Holistapet Wellness CBD Dog Treats seem to be the “general” CBD dog treats for dogs that don’t need help with mobility or anxiety. These treats are designed to strengthen your dog’s overall health instead, such as their immune system and heart.
As you’d expect, these treats contain CBD concentrate, which may help improve a number of conditions. We’ve heard reports of dogs with seizures using these treats, for instance. The other active ingredients include blueberries and flaxseed. Both of these are helpful for most dogs, even if they don’t necessarily have serious underlying problems. For instance, flaxseed is high in omega fatty acids, which can improve coat and joint health.
Plus, the blueberries improve the overall taste of the treats, as well. Sweet potatoes are also included for the flavoring.
All of my dogs did like this flavor. I did not notice any significant effects beyond the usual CBD calmness. Therefore, I would recommend these treats for dogs that don’t fit into the mobility or anxiety category.
- Designed as a generalized formula
- Includes high-quality CBD in the usual dosages
- High in other helpful ingredients, like flaxseed
- High in antioxidants
- Once again, only one flavor available
3. Mobility CBD Dog Treats
As the name suggests, these Mobility CBD Dog Treats are designed to improve mobility. Typically, this means helping your dog’s joint health and functioning. Like all of these treats, the primary active ingredient is hemp extract. This provides quite a bit of quality CBD that may help with joint pain and inflammation.
Furthermore, other active ingredients are also included. Turmeric root and Boswellia are both added. While these don’t have much scientific evidence to back them up, they may improve your dog’s joint health and mobility in other ways. For instance, turmeric does have some anti-inflammatory properties, which can reduce pain and swelling.
These treats are flavored mostly with pumpkin puree and cinnamon. Most people reported that their dogs quite liked this flavor, so we recommend giving it a shot even if you’re unsure of the pumpkin flavoring.
- Popular flavor
- Joint-supporting ingredients included
- Includes quality CBD
- Only one flavor available
Our Experience with Holistapet CBD Dog Treats
My overall experience with Holistapet was great. I was quite surprised by the nice packaging their ingredients were shipped in. The packaging alone absolutely makes Holistapet feel like a premium company.
In the beginning, I was a bit suspicious of using CBD dog treats. Typically, when I give my dogs CBD, I use an oil and add it to a treat that I know they like. My Husky can be quite picky, and it can be challenging to find treats that he likes.
However, he loved two out of the three flavors available. My other dogs loved all the flavors. However, they eat just about everything, so this wasn’t surprising.
Sadly, the one flavor that my Husky didn’t like was the treat that he needed to eat the most. Because he has separation anxiety, I often feed him CBD when I’m leaving the house. However, he did not like the flavor of effective for his anxiety (despite loving peanut butter). Therefore, I opted to feed him the wellness and mobility treats instead.
Luckily, all of these treats have the same CBD in them. It’s just the other active ingredients and flavor that differ. Therefore, my dog was still getting the same calming benefits from the other types of treats. He just wasn’t getting the added benefit of the chamomile, which was a bit of a disappointment. I would like to see more flavors available for each type of treat in the future.
With that said, all of the treats seemed quite effective. I could tell a behavioral difference in my dogs, especially when it came to handling fireworks. Therefore, I would absolutely purchase from this brand in the future should I need CBD for any of my dogs. I also love that they have their third-party lab result for each product online.
Summary
Overall, these treats contain quality CBD oil, which we could tell based on the lab reports and our personal experience. We also loved that they include other effective, active ingredients that may improve your dog’s overall health.
However, because each type of treat only comes in one flavor, you may run into issues if your dog doesn’t like the flavor of the treat they need to be eating.
