    About Colorado Hemp Honey

Colorado Hemp Honey CBD Pet Products - unboxing

There is so much to love about Colorado Hemp Honey, starting with the fact that this is a family-owned, veteran-run business. Nick French was a marine before he started the company in 2015. He also has a passion for bees and sustainable farming practices.

Colorado Hemp Honey, which specializes in mixing honey and essential oils with Colorado-grown hemp oil, was born out of these passions.

In addition to helping educate others about sustainable and backyard beekeeping, Nick also donates a percent of his profits to Freedom Service Dogs of America and Veterans to Farmers.

Where Are Colorado Hemp Honey Products Produced?

The honey used in Colorado Hemp Honey products comes from Nick’s Frangiosa Farms in Franktown, Colorado. Most of the hemp used in the infused honeys and tinctures is also grown on the farm, while the rest is provided by their Colorado partners.

The bees who make the honey are raised using sustainable, natural practices, organic products, and essential oils.

Which Types of Pets Is Colorado Hemp Honey Best Suited For?

Colorado Hemp Honey has a small line of products made specifically for pets, including two CBD tinctures and two topicals.

The CBD tinctures are great for dogs who suffer from chronic anxiety, occasional stress, achy joints, and chronic pain. The two topicals are meant to tackle cracked paws, bug bites, and minor wounds. The Calming Ear Balm can also be used to reduce stress.

They also carry a line of hemp-infused honeys that are marketed for people but can be used for dogs at smaller doses. These products come with a range of benefits and are great for supporting whole-body wellness and balance.

Because all Colorado Hemp Honey products contain honey in one form or another, they should only be used for adult dogs with mature immune systems and not for puppies.

    Key Features

Colorado Hemp Honey CBD Pet Products - papyrus and the products

There are a lot of things that set Colorado Hemp Honey products apart from other CBD products out there. Here, we’ll take a look at a few of them, including the ingredients, their uses, what you can expect, and the wealth of products this company offers.

    Ingredients

The two key ingredients of every Colorado Hemp Honey product are, not surprisingly, hemp and honey.

Their Raw Relief product, for instance, contains just those two ingredients. The honey is raw and unfiltered so it retains all the antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antioxidant properties that make honey so magical. And the hemp oil used is full-spectrum, which means it’s loaded with CBD, minor cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids.

The pet tinctures they sell contain this same full-spectrum hemp oil plus bee propolis. This compound, also known as “bee glue,” contains over 500 compounds, including a whole slew of polyphenols known to hasten wound healing, fight infection, slow cancer growth, and reduce the risk of many common chronic diseases. It also has some anti-anxiety properties.

Their pet topicals contain hemp extract, beeswax, herbals, and essential oils. Each formula is designed to soothe and heal with the power of nature.

    Uses

Colorado Hemp Honey has four pet-specific products, each with a different intended use.

Their Crazy Bee Gone for Pets hemp oil is formulated to promote relaxation and balance. Meanwhile, their Hip ‘N’ Joint for Pets hemp oil targets inflammation and pain to help dogs with arthritis and joint problems.

Their Soothing Paw Balm contains beeswax, hemp extract, and three herbal ingredients to help heal cracked skin, prevent infection, and improve skin health. And their Calming Ear Balm uses hemp, beeswax, and essential oils to reduce inflammation, ease pain, and promote healing, making it perfect for minor wounds and bug bites. It can also be used on the inside of the ears as a topical calming treatment.

    What to Expect

Just like with any other hemp product, you can expect both an immediate effect from these products, as well as an intensifying long-term effect with consistent use.

The tinctures are best used daily or twice daily to provide persistent relief and help the body rebalance. The added propolis in these tinctures appears to heighten these effects compared to oils that only contain CBD extract.

The balms should be used for targeted treatment to help heal and soothe. If applied consistently, they do a wonderful job of speeding up healing and reducing the redness and swelling associated with bug bites, scratches, and minor cuts. The Calming Ear Balm also works well as a targeted stress treatment for those extra-anxious times, such as trips to the vet and during fireworks or storms.

    Additional Products and Shipping Options

In addition to their pet line, Colorado Hemp Honey also carries a number of hemp and honey products for humans.

One of these is their Raw Relief Hemp-Infused Honey. This product is made with raw honey from Frangiosa Farms that has been infused with full-spectrum hemp extract. It is meant to be a relaxing, balancing supplement that supports overall well-being.

While it’s marketed for humans, it is also safe to use for dogs in limited amounts. Depending on your dog’s size, they can take between ¼ teaspoon and 2 teaspoons per day. The combination of CBD, flavonoids, and natural antioxidants makes it a great superfood supplement for adult dogs of all types.

All of Colorado Hemp Honey’s products can be purchased as a one-time order or added to a subscription. The latter can save you up to 20%, depending on the product and how often you have it shipped.

Our 2 Colorado Hemp Honey Reviews:

    1. Crazy Bee Gone for Pets

Colorado Hemp Honey Crazy Bee Gone for Pets

This highly effective CBD tincture is made with full-spectrum hemp oil and bee propolis.

Each bottle contains 500 mg of hemp extract and 360 mg of CBD. This most popular cannabinoid has many uses, but one of the most common is as a calming compound. It works with your dog’s endocannabinoid system to affect the concentration of different neurotransmitters in the brain while also reducing blood flow to areas of the brain associated with feelings of anxiousness.

Bee propolis has over 500 different compounds in it, including a long list of antioxidants known to fight infection and cancer and reduce the risk of certain chronic diseases. Studies have also shown that it can affect the action of the hippocampus and suppress neuroinflammation, both of which have anti-anxiety effects.

In addition to these active ingredients, this tincture also utilizes MCT oil as a carrier oil and natural bacon flavor.

Each milliliter serving contains 12 mg of CBD and 1 mg of bee propolis. It has a fairly high concentration of CBD compared to many pet tinctures, yet isn’t overly expensive.

My dog happily licks his bowl clean each time I add this to his meals and has been noticeably calmer since I started him on the product.

    Pros
    • Full-spectrum CBD
    • Added bee propolis
    • 12 mg CBD per milliliter
    • Easy-read measurement markers
    • Bacon flavor for palatability
    Cons
    • Only one flavor available
    • Only one size

    2. Calming Ear Balm for Pets

Colorado Hemp Honey Calming Ear Balm for Pets

One of Colorado Hemp Honey’s more popular topical products is their Calming Ear Balm for Pets. This balm is made with full-spectrum hemp extract, beeswax, coconut oil, arnica, peppermint, and lavender.

The 90 mg of CBD present in the hemp oil work to reduce pain and inflammation by binding with cellular receptors in the skin and muscles. Beeswax is also effective for reducing inflammation as well as fighting infection and promoting healing. Coconut oil has many of these same antibiotic effects.

Arnica is a powerful topical pain reliever that helps reduce inflammation. Lavender and peppermint extracts, meanwhile, provide soothing relief for pain, itchiness, and burning while also playing their own part to hasten healing and prevent infection.

This balm makes an excellent natural treatment for minor wounds, scrapes, burns, and bug bites.

It can also be used as a calming treatment thanks to its aromatic properties and the effects of CBD. I rub it on the inside of my dog’s ear flaps where it can absorb easily into the bloodstream.

I’ve also used it in conjunction with Colorado Hemp Honey’s Raw Relief honey to help treat a stubborn abscess my dog had.

The balm comes in a twist tube for easy, no-mess applications.

    Pros
    • Multiple powerful ingredients
    • Easy to apply
    • Calming and healing
    • Great scent
    • Works fast
    Cons
    • Hard to gauge CBD dose

Our Experience With Colorado Hemp Honey

Frangiosa Farms, where Colorado Hemp Honey is made, just happens to be one town over from where I live in Colorado. Because of that, I am fairly familiar with the brand.

I have used their infused Raw Relief honey personally and for my pets. And their Hip ‘N’ Joint tincture has been a game changer for my thirteen-year-old Dalmatian mix with painful joints.

This time around, I wanted to give their calming treatments a try on my fifteen-year-old Chihuahua, Papyrus.

This little man has dealt with anxiety in many forms all his life. Most recently, he has been struggling to sleep at night, often pacing endlessly at bedtime and waking up in the middle of the night.

I started using the Crazy Bee Gone for Pets tincture in the morning and before bed to help with his achy joints and for its calming properties. I also started rubbing the Calming Ear Balm on the inside of his ears each night before bed.

    What I Loved

It was clear from night one that these products make a huge difference for Papyrus. Every time I give them to him before bed, he passes out hard and fast and stays asleep for hours.

They have almost completely gotten rid of his bedtime pacing. He is still getting up around 3 am, but I’m happy that we have solved at least one of his issues.

I think a big reason this CBD option has been more effective than others is because of the inclusion of propolis. This compound is renowned for its antibiotic and antioxidant properties, but more and more studies are shedding light on how it also affects the brain and helps to reduce anxiety.

The balm is also a big hit in my house. I love that it works as a calming topical as well as a wound and bug bite treatment. I started using it along with my Raw Relief honey for a small abscess Papyrus had that wasn’t responding to normal treatment.

With some extra attention and the help of these two products, the infection and swelling went down significantly in just one day. After a few days of repeat treatment, the abscess finally went away for good.

I always like to see multiple ordering options for pet products in terms of size, flavor, and concentration, which is something you don’t get here. But the concentration of their tinctures is high enough to dose big dogs while still being usable for small dogs on higher doses.

I love that this is a veteran-owned company that is giving back in so many ways. And, as a Colorado native, I am a big fan of their inclusion of Rocky Mountain honey and Colorado hemp.

    Conclusion

If you’re looking for help with your anxious pooch, I highly recommend checking out the products Colorado Hemp Honey has to offer.

This unique company mixes the healing powers of CBD and honey to create some impressively effective tinctures and topicals for pets. Their Crazy Bee Gone hemp oil with propolis and their Calming Ear Balm for Pets have both been game changers for my Chihuahua’s nighttime anxiety. And I love the Raw Relief honey, both for my personal use and for my pets.
