Temperament & Intelligence of the Doodleman Pinscher 🧠

Just because these dogs are intelligent doesn’t mean that they are going to run the house. They want nothing more than to make you happy and enjoy life with you, and they quickly learn that disobeying you isn’t in their best interest. Once they learn the rules of the house, these dogs are loyal companions who want to play during the day and watch out for you while you sleep at night.

Are These Dogs Good for Families 👪

Doodleman Pinschers are excellent dogs if you have a family. They are calm around both children and other pets and benefit from having someone to play with all the time. Their large size might not be ideal for small babies, but they are known to be gentle with children of all ages. They are a little skeptical of strangers and unknown situations, but it is usually only because they want to trust who is hanging around them and their pack.

Do Doodleman Pinschers Get Along with Other Pets?

Socializing your dog regardless of its breed is the key to helping them get along with other pets. However, the Doodleman Pinscher has a gentle nature and they aren’t likely to fight with another dog unless provoked or threatened.

Things to Know About Owning a Doodleman Pinscher:

The Doodleman Pinscher is a medium to large-sized dog. They stand a couple of feet tall and have strong bodies. Their long head and neck have two floppy ears that stick out and their almond-shaped, brown eyes are hard not to love. They have good proportions but keeping them in balance is dependent on how well you care for all their needs.

Food & Diet Requirements 🦴

This dog breed has a larger size and is going to require food that is rich in nutrients to support its active lifestyle. You want to always choose a kibble brand that is created for their size and is low in carbs so that they won’t overeat and become obese. Feed these dogs two to three times per day, depending on how active they are.

Exercise 🐕

Poodles are prone to bloat, so refrain from exercising these dogs an hour after they eat. Aside from that, they enjoy living very healthy lifestyles and do best when they get about an hour of activity each day. A long walk paired with some playtime from the kids is a good way to keep them fit and trim.

Training 🎾

Training doesn’t take too long because Doodleman Pinschers are intelligent enough to pick up on commands quickly. The biggest hurdles you face come when you see their stubborn size, but persistence is key, and soon, the need to please you will take priority over their bullheadedness.

Grooming ✂️

Although curly, the Doodleman Pinscher has a longer coat that can sometimes reach 4 inches long. Although they won’t shed a lot, they do benefit from a thorough brushing session to keep their coats from matting. Taking them to the groomer once per week for a haircut, brush, nail trimming, and ear cleaning is a good way to keep on top of this chore.

Health and Conditions 🏥

All dog breeds are predisposed to conditions. These issues aren’t always avoidable, but helping them live a healthy lifestyle and buying from a quality breeder are your best chances at preventing them. These issues stem from both halves of this breed and have a few more serious conditions than other hybrid dog breeds. Keep a watchful gaze on your pet and take them in for their annual checkups every year to say on top of them. Your biggest concern in general, should be bloat. Don’t allow your furry friend to eat or drink too fast and refrain from exercise until their food has had plenty of time to digest.

3 Little-Known Facts About the Doodleman Pinscher

1. They are half Doberman Pinscher.

Designer or hybrid dogs don’t always have a deep history compared to purebred dogs, but this one allows us to trace them back based on each half that they contain. They are half Doberman Pinschers if you couldn’t already tell by the name, and in fact the Doodleman is also sometimes referred to as the Doberdoodle."Doberman Pinschers were bred around the 19th century by a tax collector who needed a dog to protect him from thieves. He wanted a dog that was quick, brave, and strong. However, as years passed, they were bred to be more suitable for families while the husbands of the home were away at war. This breed today is affectionate, loyal, and intelligent and will do anything to protect its loved ones.

2. They are half Poodle.

Poodles today are seen in dog shows and are considered an intelligent, regal breed. However, they were originally bred to retrieve waterfowl for hunters. The curly coat was to protect them from the water and there are three sizes that have been around for hundreds of years. Today, this breed is highly intelligent with a great memory and eagerness to please.

3. They can be highly stubborn.

Because they’re so smart, they also aren’t easily fooled and can have a stubborn streak. Training these dogs isn’t a huge challenge, but it definitely doesn’t go without a few hiccups along the way. They counteract this stubbornness with their daring nature because they aren’t afraid to go after what they want.

Summary

Doodleman Pinschers aren’t your stereotypical designer dog that is small and cutesy. These dogs are larger and require a lot of room and a spacious yard to run and play in. They love being around family and their behavior benefits from someone who has experience owning and training a dog already. Their ultimate goal is to protect the ones they love and could be a good addition if you like having the security of a guard dog around.

There are a lot of benefits to owning a Doodleman Pinscher. Even though they are on the more expensive side compared to some other breeds, this dog is well worth it if you hope to watch them grow with your family and look out for you at all hours of the day. They aren’t too crazy to manage and they deserve a family who is going to provide them with everything they need to live a full life.
