Double Doodle Puppies

Double Doodle puppies have a complex parentage. Besides being an expensive breed, ff you wanted to breed them yourself for a profit, you would need to purchase breeding rights. If you do not purchase breeding rights, you will likely need to get your pet spayed or neutered as part of your contract.

Families with children will find this lovable and friendly pup a welcome addition to the family. Their high energy also make them great for active families. They are very smart so training should come pretty easy.

Temperament & Intelligence of the Double Doodle 🧠

Double Doodles are social animals that don’t like to be alone for too long. It enjoys running and playing and will require a large yard to play in. It makes a good companion for children and adults, and it makes friends quickly with strangers but is still effective as a watchdog. It never gets aggressive, and most owners describe it as easygoing but a little bit barky.

Double Doodles are intelligent and highly trainable, so an experienced owner can usually train the dog to bark less as well sa perform any number of tricks. The Golden Retriever in it makes it useful as a guide dog, and it’s also effective in a rescue operation.

Are These Dogs Good for Families 👪

Yes. The Double Doodle makes a fantastic pet for families. It’s extremely affectionate and loves to play games with children, who will help it get the exercise it requires. In addition, its high intelligence allows it to be extra attentive to your needs, and it can even help you complete your daily chores.

Does This Breed Get Along With Other Pets 🐶 😽

Yes. The Double Doodle is a social animal that prefers the company of other animals to being alone. In fact, many owners describe this dog as cat-friendly. However, it still has a strong prey drive for small animals, and it may chase squirrels, rabbits, and birds that enter your yard. It’s a pleasure to walk around town or on a trail because it doesn’t fight with the other dogs, making it a lot easier to get your pet the exercise it needs.

Things to Know When Owning a Double Doodle:

Food & Diet Requirements 🦴

Your Double Duty is an extremely active dog, so it will need a high-protein diet. Protein is the fuel your dog uses for energy, and it’s the building block for strong muscle. Protein also helps your pet feel full longer, so it is less likely to come looking for food before it’s time. You can make sure your dog is getting enough protein by looking at the ingredients list. It should have chicken, turkey, fish, or other real meat listed as the first ingredient. Brands that don’t have meat listed first use other ingredients like corn which are mostly empty calories. These ingredients will leave your pet feeling hungry for a short time after eating and don’t provide them with much energy or muscle-building materials.

Exercise 🐕

Your dog will require plenty of activity to stay healthy and happy. A home with a large backyard is essential to give your dog a playing area and it will not be happy stuck in an apartment. If you have children, you will probably only need to set aside about 30 minutes, but if not, you will need to set aside about one hour each day to play with your pet to help it burn off excess energy. One of the best ways to exercise your dog is to let it take a swim. Your Double Doodle is a master swimmer and will very much enjoy getting wet.

Training 🎾

While the Labrador Retriever and Golden Retriever are both highly intelligent dogs, the Poodle is a genius and will make it possible for you to teach your dog complex tasks. Keeping your training sessions short and at the same time each day will help get your dog in a routine, and it will arrive focused and ready to learn. Positive reinforcement in the form of treats and praise will keep your dog interested, and patience is critical. Even though your dog is smart, it can take several weeks to commit a new trick to memory and follow your commands on the first or second try.

Grooming ✂️

Your Double Doodle will require frequent brushing to keep the hair tangle-free, and many owners choose to get the dog professionally groomed every few weeks to trim the fur to make it more manageable. If you choose to have your pet groomed, it’s a good time to get your pet’s teeth cleaned if they offer that service, and the nails trimmed as required.

Health and Conditions 🏥

Minor Conditions

  • Bloat

Serious Conditions

  • Hip Dysplasia

Minor Conditions:

  • Bloat

Bloat is common in deep-chested dogs like the Poodle. This condition causes the stomach to fill up with air, putting pressure on other organs and causing a potentially life-threatening situation. The stomach can also flip on itself, trapping blood inside and damaging the stomach lining. Symptoms include excessive salivating, restlessness, and retching. If you notice these symptoms, you will need to go to the vet immediately.

Serious Conditions:

  • Hip Dysplasia

Hip dysplasia is a condition that affects all dog breeds and is the result of genetics. It causes the hip joint to form incorrectly, so the leg doesn’t move smoothly in the joint. As the dog ages, the incorrect fitting will cause the joint to wear down prematurely, affecting its ability to put weight on the affected leg. In addition, active dogs, like the Double Doodle, and large or overweight dogs put more strain on the joints, causing them to wear down faster, and some dogs can have difficulty walking at a young age. Symptoms of hip dysplasia include difficulty getting up from a lying position and climbing stairs. If you think your dog might have these symptoms, it’s important to have it checked by a vet. Treatment includes weight management, medication, and surgery.

Male vs Female

Since the Double Doodle is a mix of mixed breeds, there is a wide range of possible outcomes concerning size and temperament. Unfortunately, these possibilities make it impossible to compare the male and female to look for differences.
