Dog lovers fear walking ban

There are fears that dogs could soon be banned from large sections of the Table Mountain National Park in terms of a new conservation development framework that is out for public comment.

Park managers have said that while no unilateral decision would be taken, they are re-looking at the environmental management programme for dogs.

The proposed move has outraged dog walkers, many of whom walk with their pets for protection following a spate of attacks on the mountain.

Guns and knives have been used by criminals to attack tourists and locals, with a number of women being raped in recent years.
