According to its Facebook page, the Pakistan Animal Welfare Society, or PAWS, of Karachi, Pakistan, “is dedicated to a more just and equitable relationship between humans and animals in Pakistan.” It has no shelter or venue, or paid staff. It is run by volunteers, and all its efforts go toward rescuing animals, treating them — usually at the Karachi Animal Hospital, a private clinic — and finding them homes.

One of those dogs is a special needs dog who was hit by a car and lost movement in both back legs. This flyer first showed up in April. It might sort of break your heart:

Unfortunately, nobody has come forward, and yesterday the Pakistan group stepped up the call to action with a series of Facebook posts, as the dog’s leg wounds are in poor shape due to his living conditions:

We’re looking for a loving home for a special needs dog currently housed at Animal Care Clinic in Gulshan, Karachi. He was hit by a car and lost movement in both his hind legs as a result. Since the last two years almost he’s been living at various clinics. Please help us find a home for this dog. Do share this photo on your profiles, and ask around if anyone you know would be willing to adopt him. Thanks!

He’s currently housed at Animal Care Clinic in Gulshan and is in veterinary student Faisal’s care, who tells us the dog’s hind leg wounds are getting worse due to lack of soft bedding and generally unsuitable conditions at the clinic.

If anyone can suggest a more suitable place to house him than Animal Care Clinic in Gulshan, then please do let us know. We would like to shift him asap as his hind leg wounds are getting worse day by day at the clinic.

We’re passing on the information to you, so you can spread the word as well to help get this dog can find the help he needs soon. If you’d like to help, visit PAWS Facebook page or website, or email PAWS at info@pawspakistan.org.

Red Flyer, a group in Florida who rehabilitates old wheelchairs and gives them to special needs dogs, has already stepped up with an offer of a wheelchair. Yesterday, it posted this:

Red Flyer will do what we can to provide this dog a wheelchair [mobility cart] that can be transferred to a family that adopts him. We’ve found that more people are apt to adopt a special needs dog if a chair is already provided.

Hopefully a foster home is next.
