Tips for Naming Your Newfoundland Dog

Don’t be in a rush to name your Newfoundland. Taking some time to make the right choice is worth it. You want a name that everyone in the family agrees on. Newfoundlands have an average lifespan of 9 to 10 years, so you’ll be saying this name for years to come.

Also, consider the names of close family and friends when naming your dog. If your daughter’s name is “Zoe,” you probably don’t want to name your dog “Chloe.” Rhyming names sound alike to a dog’s ears and will create confusion.

You want to avoid names that sound like commands. “Bo” and “Beau” are currently popular, but we didn’t include them on our list. Both names sound too similar to “No.”

Conclusion

You have many options when it comes to naming your Newfoundland. You can let the sea inspire you with names like “Lake” and “Bay.” Names like “Cocoa” and “Hershey” might seem fitting if your Newfie is brown. Or, you can choose a popular name like “Jax” or “Luna.”
