Labrador Retrievers are one of the most loved dogs in the United States. They are loyal, friendly, affectionate, and intelligent, all wrapped into an adorable-looking package. There are thousands of Labrador Retriever breeders in the states, but it is less common to find reputable breeders in Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is a U.S. territory, and people all over the world love them as much as those located somewhere within the 50 states. It’s challenging to find reputable and quality breeders in Puerto Rico but it’s not impossible. Check out this short yet dependable list of breeders recommended by the Puerto Rico Labrador Retriever Club below.

The 3 Labrador Retriever Breeders in Puerto Rico

1. Armor Labradors

Armor Labradors

  • San Juan, Puerto Rico

Armor Labradors is located in the countryside of San Juan. This small kennel breeds its dogs carefully with a focus on temperament and functionality. As breeders under the American Kennel Club, their Labrador Retriever litters are from high-quality pedigrees. They have had dogs nominated and awarded several awards, including Best Handler in Obedience, Dog of the Year in Obedience, and a nomination for their outstanding contribution to dog sports. They breed both Labradors and Dobermans and are one of the most trusted breeders in the area.

2. Big Pine Labradors

This award was also backed by the American Kennel Club in America.

Dogs of Puerto Rico

Puerto Rico has been in the news recently for its stray dog problem. There are an estimated 500,000 stray dogs wandering the streets of Puerto Rico, with a euthanasia rate between 94 and 96 percent. Laws are being put in place to help the situation, but many are still improperly bred and abused.

If you aren’t having any luck finding a reputable breeder in Puerto Rico with an available litter, you might consider adopting one of the many dogs in need from a shelter. There are many Labrador Retrievers currently waiting to move to their forever homes. Before you adopt a dog, always make sure you have their medical records and take them in for an additional vet checkup once you bring them home.
