Our Final Verdict

We give Honeydew an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.

Quality: 5/5
Scent: 4.5/5
Ingredients: 5/5
Value: 4.5/5

Bath time can be stressful for dogs and their owners. Using the wrong type of shampoo can wreak havoc on a dog’s skin and coat health, so it’s important to invest in a high-quality shampoo that will actually benefit your dog rather than irritate them.

Honeydew is a reputable brand that mainly produces personal care products. However, it also produces a line of dog shampoos. Considering the numerous positive reviews Honeydew’s human personal care products have received, I thought I’d test out its pet products with my dog.

I had an overall positive experience using the Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set on my dog. The highlights of this set include its moisturizing formula and a long-lasting, fresh scent. After using it, I’d say that it definitely has the potential to transform stressful bath times into a more refreshing experience.

    About HoneyDew

Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set - nora lying on the floor next to the products

Who is Honeydew, and Where is it Produced?

Honeydew is a brand under Maple Holistics, which is a personal care company that specializes in products made with naturally derived ingredients. It follows Maple Holistics’ high standards for ethically produced eco-friendly products. Honeydew products optimize the use of natural ingredients and prioritize environmentally conscious practices. The products are also cruelty-free, and you can find many vegan options as well.

Most of Honeydew’s products are for human haircare and skincare, but it currently has a small line of dog shampoos and one pet spray. All the pet care products are made in the USA with ingredients that are both locally and globally sourced.

Which Types of Pets is Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set Best Suited For?

The Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray set is safe for dogs of all ages and breeds. It has a gentle formula and contains colloidal oatmeal, which moisturizes and soothes irritated skin. It’s a viable option for dogs with sensitive skin and can help prevent dry skin when used properly. However, as with any sort of product, make sure to consult your veterinarian first if your dog has skin and coat issues. Your veterinarian can provide more insight on if a shampoo contains ingredients that might irritate your dog’s skin or exacerbate symptoms.

While the Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set can be used on any dog, we’ve found that it’s easiest to use with smaller dogs and short-haired dogs. The shampoo can take some time to lather and work into a dog’s coat, so you can end up spending extra time on larger dogs, especially breeds with thick double coats.

    Key Features

Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set - products on the sink

The Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set is designed to keep your dog clean and smelling fresh while simultaneously nourishing their skin and coat. Here’s a breakdown of what you can expect from this set and how to make the best use of it.

    How To Use

The frequency of bathing will depend on your dog’s specific skin and coat and their activity level. In my experience, I’ve found that my dog smells clean for a little over a week after using the Lavender Oatmeal Pet Shampoo. The following steps helped my dog stay fresh and clean until her next bath.

During bath time, it’s important to wet your dog’s coat thoroughly to help the shampoo lather well. Pour a small amount of shampoo into your hand and lather it before applying it to your dog’s coat. After you’ve massaged the shampoo into your dog’s coat, let it sit for 2 to 3 minutes. This will ensure that the skin and coat absorb the moisturizing properties of the shampoo. Then, rinse out the shampoo completely and be extra careful around the face.

The Nourishing Lavender Pet Spray works best when the coat is completely dry. Shake it before every use, and lightly mist your dog if you just want to freshen up their coat. If you need to detangle the coat, spray more thoroughly and pay attention to tangled or matted areas. Then, use a brush or comb to detangle hairs. After you’ve brushed your dog’s coat, towel dry your dog and let their coat air dry. The spray can be used up to once a day, but I’ve found that a light misting lasted for about 2 to 3 days.

Safe for All Ages and Breeds

Both the Lavender Oatmeal Pet Shampoo and Nourishing Lavender Pet Spray are cruelty-free and have vegan formulas. They can be used on all coat types and moisturize the coat really well when they’re used together. They’re also gentle on the skin and won’t dry out the skin and coat as long as you’re not over-bathing your dog. Both products can be used on puppies. Just be extra careful around the face, as they can irritate the eyes.

    Scent

The scent of the shampoo and spray comes from lavender essential oil. Lavender essential oil is known for its calming effects and can help ease anxiety. This scent makes bath time feel like a peaceful and luxurious experience without being irritating or too strong for dogs. Both the shampoo and spray leave a subtle floral scent on your dog’s coat that lasts for a long time.

    Benefits

With consistent use, you can see visible improvements in your dog’s skin and coat. There can be a reduction in dryness and flakiness, and the coat will look shinier and feel soft and smooth. While the shampoo isn’t specifically designed for shedding control, you may see a reduction in shedding due to a healthier coat and less breakage from dry and brittle hair. The shampoo and spray also work well with deodorizing the coat and will keep your dog smelling clean until their next scheduled bath.

    Reviews of Honeydew Pet Products

    1. Pet Pleasant Lavender Oatmeal Pet Shampoo

Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set - nora and dog shampoo

The Lavender Oatmeal Pet Shampoo is an antibacterial dog shampoo that’s safe for dogs of all ages and breeds. It contains moisturizing ingredients, like colloidal oatmeal and lavender essential oil, that help nourish and revitalize the skin and coat. The formula is designed to be gentle on the skin, so it’s a safe option for dogs with sensitive skin. It also helps soothe dry and itchy skin and performs well with deodorizing and odor control.

The only minor inconvenience we’ve experienced with this shampoo is that it takes a little longer to work up a good lather. Because of this and the bottle size, we’d easily recommend this shampoo for small dog breeds, but larger dogs will probably go through a bottle fairly quickly.

    Pros
    • Safe for all ages and breeds
    • Gentle on skin
    • Soothes dry and itchy skin
    Cons
    • Takes extra time to lather

    2. Pet Pleasant Nourishing Lavender Pet Spray

Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set - nora and pet spray

The Nourishing Lavender Pet Spray is designed to freshen your dog’s coat between baths. It has a subtle and calming lavender scent that’s derived from natural lavender essential oil. The spray feels light and doesn’t leave a greasy or oily residue on your dog’s coat. If your dog has tangles on their coat, you can apply a thicker application to help loosen up and brush through the tangled hair. The spray can also help remove loose dirt that has gotten caught on the surface of your dog’s coat.

While we haven’t experienced any issues with the spray formula, we did find that the bottle tends to leak easily. It comes with an anti-leak seal, but some of the product had leaked while it was being shipped. So, always keep the spray bottle upright and store it in a cool, dry space.

    Pros
    • Subtle and calming lavender scent
    • No greasy or oily residue
    • Can help detangle hair
    Cons
    • Bottle leaks easily

Our Experience With Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set

I tried out the Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set with my Cavapoo, Nora. She has your typical curly, Poodle-mix coat and is a light shedder. While she goes on daily walks, she doesn’t usually spend much extra time outdoors. So, we’ve found that giving her monthly baths and a few spritzes of a deodorizing spray in between helps her to stay clean.

The first thing I noticed when using the Lavender Oatmeal Pet Shampoo was its scent. It smelled a bit strong during the bath, but it was a pleasant floral scent, and Nora didn’t seem bothered by it at all. I was initially concerned that it would be too overpowering after she had dried off, but it left a nice, subtle scent that lasted for a little over a week. It was also nice how it was easy to rinse off, and I didn’t have to spend extra time washing out her coat multiple times.

I really liked how I could see immediate results with the Lavender Oatmeal Pet Shampoo. The shampoo didn’t dry out her coat or leave her hair feeling brittle. Instead, her coat felt soft and was static-free after it dried completely. The shampoo also did a great job of lifting dirt from her paws and legs. She looked super clean and had a shiny, luxurious-looking coat after each bath.

The Nourishing Lavender Pet Spray also performed exceptionally well. I sprayed a light mist on Nora’s coat before brushing it, and it left her smelling fresh for a couple of days. It absorbed nicely into her coat and didn’t leave any residue or change the texture of her coat. I also noticed that the spray helped reduce static, which is a huge bonus for us because winters can get really dry, and the static can become really uncomfortable for Nora.

One thing I can’t stress enough is to use the products according to the instructions on their labels. The first time I used the shampoo, I ended up using a lot of product because I applied it straight to Nora’s coat rather than lathering it first. I’ve found that this shampoo must be lathered first before massaging it into your dog’s coat. This step is included in the product description and helps you reduce the amount of shampoo you use. So, make sure to read the directions to ensure you’re making the best use of each product.

Overall, the Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set makes a great addition to a dog grooming routine. The shampoo’s scent lasts for a long time, and the spray does a great job of keeping dogs clean in between baths. It makes dog grooming simple and straightforward while turning baths into a luxurious experience for dogs.

    Final Thoughts

As long as you use each product according to their instructions, you’ll find that the Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set is worth every penny. The shampoo has a pleasant and calming lavender scent, and it leaves your dog’s coat feeling clean and soft without over-drying it. The Nourishing Lavender Pet Spray hydrates the coat, reduces static, and keeps your dog smelling fresh until their next bath.

The Honeydew Pet Shampoo & Spray Set is like bringing home the spa to your dog without breaking the bank. Your dog will have a visibly shinier and healthier coat, and you’ll no longer have to deal with doggy odors in between baths.
