How to Name Your Great Pyrenees

When picking a name for your new puppy, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, try to pick a name that you’ll love throughout the long life that you’ll share with your dog, not just a name that was chosen on a whim. Of course, you can change it if you notice after a while that “Gandalf” doesn’t quite match your pup’s goofy personality. That said, it will be easier for your pet to learn and respond to their name if you stick with the same one from the start.

It should also be short (or able to be shortened), easy to pronounce, and not sound too much like another word that you frequently use (like “home,” “treat”, “no,” etc.). Lastly, it should suit your dog’s personality. For example, if you notice your dog is playful, full of energy, and a bit mischievous, you can pick something like “Bolt” or “Gremlin.” If you have a mellow dog that prefers to nap at your side, you can try “Baloo” or “Serene.”

However, these are just a few guidelines to help you choose a name for your dog. If you want a unique name for your Great Pyrenees but need inspiration, check out the following lists!
