There are so many cool, creative, respectiful ways to confer immortality on your dog, from getting a tattoo (and making sure to do it right) to commissioning a portrait painted with your dog’s cremains. Not to mention so many more.
Now, plush toy giant GUND offers another: Enter the “Top Dog” contest, just announced, to make your pet the model for a limited-edition stuffed dog that will enchant children of all ages! For those of us who take the subject of stuffed dog toys very seriously, this is some big, breaking news.
The “Top Dog” contest launches Monday, July 16. To enter, simply visit GUND’s Facebook page starting Monday at noon EST.
The contest’s inspiration is the hugely popular Boo, a plush likeness of “The World’s Cutest Dog.” (Read more about him here.) And since that distinction belongs to Boo and Boo alone, there are four different categories you can nominate your dog in: Most Beautiful, Ugliest, Doganista/Best Dressed Dog, and Dog That Most Resembles Its Owner. There will be one winner from each category. Winners will be notified by email the week of Aug. 27.
The contest will run through Aug. 15. Based on the number of unique “Likes,” winners will be identified the week of Aug. 20 and announced the week of Aug. 27.
Simultaneously with the “Top Dog” contest on Facebook, GUND will run the Most Pinteresting Dog Contest on Pinterest. Post your entries on your own Pinterest page, tagging them @GUNDMostPinterestingDog, then submit the link to GUND by e-mailing MostPinterestingDog@GUND.com. GUND will select a winner based on the number of times the entry is “Liked” on the GUND Pinterest board,; the winner will receive a selection of GUND products valued at $250. How’s that for incentive?
