Man rescues dog from Chicago River

A man jumped into the North Branch of the Chicago River to save his dog Friday morning in the River North area. Both came out of the water uninjured.

The man jumped into the Chicago River at 10:30 a.m. near the East Bank Club, near 500 W. Kinzie and 350 N. Orleans, according to Police Marine Unit Officer Kevin Bahr.

The man was trying to save his dog, said Bahr. The Marine Unit sent a boat out to help him, but, “We didn’t even get there,” Bahr said. “He had already gotten out and he got the dog.”
