Tips for Choosing a Cartoon Name for Your Dog

1. Give Them a Name That Fits

You are going to want a name that suits your new puppy’s personality. This can be harder to pin down when you bring home a brand-new puppy you don’t know much about, but you can still get a feel for their personality traits so that you can narrow down a name that works for them. There’s no harm in waiting a few days to decide, either.

2. Use One to Two-Syllable Names

Names limited to only one or two syllables will be easier for your dog to recognize and remember when compared to those with more syllables. Of course, there are plenty of great names that have more than one or two syllables, and in this case, you could consider choosing a shorter nickname that works.

3. Think of Your Favorite Characters in Books, TV, and Movies

Characters from your favorite movies, TV shows, or books can help you come up with name ideas. We’ve listed names above for some of the most famous cartoon characters, but there are still plenty of names out there to explore in pop culture and literature.

4. Choose Something Appropriate

Since you will be sharing your dog’s name with family, friends, veterinarians, and strangers, we strongly recommend choosing an appropriate name you won’t be embarrassed to shout out or share with others.

5. Involve the Household

Involving everyone in the home can be a great way to narrow down name choices. Someone else in the family might have some fresh ideas you would have never thought of. You can bounce ideas off of each other and ultimately come to an agreement about what works best for your brand-new family member.

Conclusion

Choosing a name for your dog can be a challenge, but for cartoon lovers out there, there is no shortage of name ideas from various shows and movies from the beginning of television. Following the tips above can help you along your journey, but regardless of which name you choose, the most important part is that you get to welcome a new lifelong companion into your home.
