How to Name Your Cane Corso

Naming a dog should be fun and exciting. Choosing a Cane Corso’s name, however, is a task best done with a bit of thought beforehand. This is a giant dog with a heritage that can be traced back to ancient Greece and Rome! In other words, while you can, of course, name your new pup anything you like, you may want to give them a name that evokes the majesty and history of this incredible breed.

One method that you might use is to evoke a physical trait or personality feature of the Cane Corso. For example, “Gigante,” which means “Giant” in Italian, might be a good fit. Cani Corsi are also known as noble, assertive, and dominant, and their name in Latin translates to “bodyguard dog.

Naming your new Cane Corso after a figure from Greek mythology or Italian history could also be a great choice and would give your new canine companion an air of importance, grace, and strength.
