Service Dogs Against Religion
Perhaps its time for these taxi drivers to find another line of work if they are going to inflict their beliefs on the public. I understand being sensitive to others’ beliefs but unless they want to put up big signs saying, “no dogs or those who drink alcohol allowed,” then they need to work within the laws of the country.
I haven’t seen this problem in the States yet, but how about this? Even if you DON’T have your dog with you, ask the cabbie whether or not he allows service dogs. If he doesn’t, ask for another cab. I realize in places like New York City that could be very difficult but there are many places where taxis line up for fares. I travel a great deal and often see lines of taxis lined up at the stands. So just say “no” to taxi drivers who treat lawful service dogs as unclean! Hit them in their wallets and see how long THEY keep saying “NO” to service dogs.

Muslim taxis refuse to carry guide dogs
At least 20 blind Melburnians have lodged discrimination complaints with the Victorian Taxi directorate, New Limited reports.
Complaints have also been lodged against drivers who refuse to allow passengers to carry sealed bottles of alcohol.
Victorian Taxi Association spokesman Neil Sach said the association had appealed to the mufti of Melbourne to allow Muslim cabbies to carry guide dogs.
Dogs are considered unclean by many Muslims, and the issue is difficult for some drivers.
“I don’t refuse to take people, but it’s hard for me because my religion tells me I should not go near dogs,” driver Imran said.
Guide Dogs Victoria spokeswoman Holly Marquette said blind people regularly reported taxi drivers refusing to allow them on board with their dogs.
