What Do We Know About Betty the Chihuahua?

Unfortunately, there isn’t tons of information available specifically about Bluebell the Chihuahua. Animal actors do not have the same kind of presence as human actors, after all. It is likely that she has some of the traits Chihuahuas are known for, such as being playful and feisty. Because she is such an accomplished dog actress, it is likely she is also very well-trained. Being a dog actress requires tons of training, and she is obviously good enough to land many roles! Plus, it’s likely that Bluebell also enjoys working extensively. Otherwise, getting her to perform in stressful environments like movie sets would be a challenge! The fact that she continues to come back to these roles just shows how much she loves performing. Her trainer is April Macklin. She runs a Twitter page, which is occasionally updated with information about the dog.

How Old is Betty the Chihuahua on Will Trent?

Based on our knowledge, it appears that Bluebell is probably around 8 years old! However, this estimate could be off by a year or two. Chihuahuas live a pretty long time, so it is likely she’ll continue working for several years.

Facts About Chihuahuas

We know that Betty from Will Trent is a Chihuahua. So, let’s take a look at some quick facts about this breed:

  • Tiniest Dogs Around: Chihuahuas are the smallest dog breed, according to the American Kennel Club, typically weighing between 3 and 6 pounds.
  • Ancient Canines: Chihuahuas are also one of the oldest dog breeds around. They likely descended from the Techichi, which was a companion dog kept by the Toltec civilization in Mexico. They may have been around as early as the 9thcentury AD, though we don’t have much information about those very early days.
  • Big Personalities: Despite their very small bodies, chihuahuas are known for their very big personalities. They’re often very playful and feisty. They tend to be fiercely loyal to their loved ones, too. However, this trait can cause possession problems if they aren’t well-socialized.
  • Two Coat Types: Betty is a smooth-coated Chihuahua. These Chihuahuas have short, sleek coats. However, there is a longhaired Chihuahua, too, that has a flowing coat. The short-coated variety doesn’t require much grooming, but the long-coated variety does.
  • Wide Color Range: Chihuahuas have a wide variety of different colors and patterns. They come in many different combinations, like brown, white, tan, and black. You can find them in almost any color, which is one reason many people are drawn to them.
  • Adaptable Amigos: Chihuahuas can thrive in apartments and houses alike. However, they do require a decent amount of exercise, though much of this can be accomplished indoors thanks to their smaller size. They also require tons of attention. Otherwise, they may try to gain attention through bad behaviors.
  • Long Life Expectancy: As we have already discussed a bit, Chihuahuas have a very long life expectancy. They can live for a long time when properly cared for. In fact, they regularly live up to 20 years.
  • Jumping Ability: Chihuahuas often have a very strong jumping ability despite their small size! They can jump much further than you might expect.
