I am new to this, and my 15 1/2 yr old Cairn will be transitioning to this food. My dog is currently on a Hills diet Low Fat; and it is kibble and some wet food. she has diarrhea often and I take her to the vet every ime and they give her med to take for a week and then 4 days later back to the issue. SHe is on a probiotic as well. Her blood is great and initially had a higher pancreas enzyme but that is better and normal now...her stools are checked and every time are negative. She loves to eat, and I feed her 4x a day smaller portions because she lost 2 lbs over 2 months; I will tell my vet I made a decision to move her to the chicken/turkey mix I will be receiveing soon. I am worried that since she is older that this may be difficult and hope it goes well. Farmer's dog was told she is on Hills prescription diet. Thanks and I will come back with feedback. I know you can't provide vetinarian advice but wonder if any older dog did a transition with similar situation.

Hi Theresa. Please let me know how you make out with Farmers Dog. My yorkiepoo has the same issues as your baby. I want to change the Hills Diet to a more healthy choice.
A friend's dog wouldn't eat The Farmer's Dog, so she gave me her entire shipment. Even though I introduced the food slowly, my dog ate around it and just ate her normal kibble. TFD packaging leaves a lot to be desired. It's a plastic pouch with no way to close it once the top has been cut off. A zip closure would be very helpful.

However, a bit lower in the article we review three of the TFD's sample recipes and the crude protein ration is from 8-11,5%. For more information we would suggest contacting the TFD directly.
I just sent an email to the Farmers Dog Company still waiting. Nobody is addressing the elephant in the room. They advertise 2 trial packages of box of 14 and a second box of 14. That's 28 days, and proceeding months they send 26 days. I got a calendar out and calculated first year with trial boxes buying 1 months supply every 30 to 31 days equals 42 days without food supplied. And after the first year into a full 2nd year its up to 53 days not covered. So if you can do regular non taught math of today education system your ackually buying 14 months of food inside a 12 month period and still lacking for one single day. Yes it's probably fantastic food, but my dog Charlie eats every single day like Deb and I do. I just think this, is built in so to bolster revenue.
