From gunfire to helicopters, military working dogs are exposed to loud noises while training and performing their jobs. Have you ever wondered if military dogs wear ear protection?
Zeteo Tech, Inc., and Pete “Skip” Scheifele MD, PhD, a retired Navy lieutenant commander, professor at the University of Cincinnati and leading animal audiology expert, partnered together to create the Canine Auditory Protection System (CAPS). Intended to prevent short-term hearing loss in working dogs, the CAPS fits snuggly over the head like a snood. The CAPS is easy for handlers to put on dogs, lightweight and flexible, so as not to hinder the dogs’ performance.
