Goberian Puppies

When you welcome a Goberian into your home, you can expect to have a loving, friendly, and energetic dog around. Goberians are also very intelligent, making them highly trainable. Goberians are generally healthy as long as they are fed correctly and have enough exercise.

Keep in mind that many Goberian puppies now have two Goberian parents, and this means that you likely won't have a 50/50 Siberian Husky and Golden Retriever mix. After several generations, you're more likely to have one breed be more dominant than the other, and there's no way to tell which one that will be. Still, the most challenging part of getting a Goberian puppy is tracking one down!

Temperament & Intelligence of the Goberian 🧠

Both Golden Retrievers and Siberian Huskies are intelligent dogs, so there's no reason that your Goberian won't be extremely smart either. Getting a better idea of their overall temperament is a bit more challenging, though.

Both Siberian Huskies and Golden Retrievers are incredibly social dogs that are great around families, but Siberian Huskies tend to have more of a drive. While the Golden Retriever has no problem either heading out for a game of fetch or lazing around for the day, a Siberian Husky needs something to do.

That's why it's only best to get a Goberian if you plan to be active with them. Whether this is heading out for long walks every day or giving them a large fenced-in yard, make sure you can keep up with them.

Still, these are extremely friendly and social dogs. As long as you socialize them early, they'll thoroughly enjoy kids and other dogs hanging out with them, which is a huge boon for many owners.

Are These Dogs Good for Families 👪

There are few dogs on the planet as family-friendly as the Goberian. They do great around children of all ages, although you do need to be a little careful because of their larger size. It's not that the Goberian will hurt your child on purpose, but if they get excited, their larger size can lead to injuries.

To help with this, it's best to socialize your Goberian often and give them plenty of exercise. As long as you stay on top of things, there's no reason that your kids and other family members can't help out with this!

Finally, while some dogs bond strongly to one owner and practically ignore the rest of the family, that isn't the case with the Goberian. They bond with everyone in their family and have no problem jumping from person to person.

Does This Breed Get Along With Other Pets 🐶 😽

While it's critical to socialize them as early as possible, the Goberian typically gets along great with other pets. Whether it's other dogs, cats, or even more exotic animals, the Goberian usually doesn't have any problems.

However, if you have an older Goberian and they were never socialized, they might not respond the best to other pets. It's always a good idea to do a trial run when you're adding a new pet to the home.

But with a Goberian, there's a good chance that there won't be any problems.

Things to Know When Owning a Goberian

Before you head out and adopt a Goberian, there are a few things that you should know to care for them properly. We covered all the basics here, from grooming to exercise, so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into.

Food & Diet Requirements 🦴

Since the size of the Goberian can vary drastically, so does the amount of food that they eat daily. It's best to stick with the recommendations on the packaging of the dog food, as this will let you know how much food a dog your size should eat.

However, keep in mind that a growing puppy will need a little more food. Always opt for a high-quality kibble, even if it does cost a bit more upfront.

Such food will have all the nutrients that your pup needs, without any of the fillers, and this will keep your Goberian happy and healthy longer, saving you more money in vet bills.

Exercise 🐕

While the Goberian might not be a hyperbreed, they are an extremely active one. You need to shoot for at least 60 minutes of activity per day. This can be trips to the dog park, walks, hikes, or even runs.

The key is to keep your pup moving. Every week, you need to get your pup out for about 10 to 15 miles. If you're adopting a Goberian, know that they can be a great motivator to improve your own health!

Training 🎾

While it's certainly possible for your Goberian to have a bit of a stubborn streak, as dogs go, they're among the easiest to train. The key is to stay consistent and use positive reinforcement.

A Goberian wants to please their owner, so if they know what you want, they generally do their best to accommodate you. The one exception to this is housebreaking, as many of these dogs are a bit stubborn during this process.

Grooming ✂️

The grooming requirements associated with a Goberian will vary depending on the parent breed they take after. If you have a Goberian that sheds a ton, then you'll need to brush them daily, and even this might not be enough to get the shedding under control.

However, if your Goberian takes after their Siberian Husky lineage with their coat, they might only shed twice a year. You should still brush them about once a week to prevent mats and tangling, though.

In addition to brushing your Goberian, you need to brush their teeth a few times a week to keep up with good oral hygiene. As long as you start early, there usually aren't any problems with this.

Health and Conditions 🏥

Like all mixed breeds, the Goberian is less prone to health concerns compared to purebred dogs. However, that doesn't mean there aren't potential concerns that you need to look out for. We highlighted a few of the potential health concerns here.

Keep in mind that the best thing that you can do for your pup is to get them enough exercise and feed them a healthy diet. This will keep them healthy and happy longer, although it will not prevent hereditary diseases.

Male vs Female

While the most significant factor in determining a Goberian's size is the parent they take after, their sex does play a role. Males tend to be a bit larger than females, but since the breed’s size can vary so much, this is far from a sure thing.

A more noticeable difference is often in the amount of attention that they need. Males tend to need more attention than females, but both still possess an independent streak.

In the end, your dog's individual personality is what will affect their overall temperament more than their sex. Get to know your pup and their unique quirks, even if it doesn't fit completely in with their sex or breed norms!

3 Little-Known Facts About the Goberian

1. They can shed frequently — or hardly at all

The Siberian Husky and the Golden Retriever shed in drastically different ways. In colder weather, Siberian Huskies only shed about twice a year, and then they blow their coat. However, in warmer climates, Siberian Huskies can shed year-round.

Meanwhile, the Golden Retriever sheds a ton in the spring and fall but a bit less in summer and winter. As a mix, the Goberian can inherit any of these traits — or both. Your Goberian might only blow their coat twice a year, or they might shed a ton year-round and still blow their coat in the spring and fall.

There's no way to know until you've owned your Goberian for a while, but just know that you might get a ton of pet hair!

2. They are loyal yet independent

The two traits might seem contradictory but they aren't! You might want your Goberian to be a lap dog, but chances are that they’d rather spend time on their own. That said, when you want them around, they'll have no problem listening to you and potentially protecting your family.

They like to have a job to do, so if you're looking for a working dog, a Goberian might be a good choice. You can trust that they'll do what needs to be done even if you're not around. They’re loyal yet independent.

3. They can have blue or brown eyes

One of people's favorite features about Siberian Huskies is their blue eyes. But since you're getting a hybrid, there's no guarantee that your Goberian will have blue eyes. Golden Retrievers have brown eyes, and there's a good chance that your Goberian will inherit those.

Still, if you do get lucky and get a Goberian with blue eyes, it's a striking appearance that will add to your pup's beauty.

Final Thoughts

While the Goberian is tough to track down, they’re a dog that you should consider if you get the chance to adopt one. They make great family and companion dogs, but be sure you have the time and attention to give them.

They're outstanding pups, but they have a great deal of energy to burn, and they can quickly turn into a headache if you don't give them the time and exercise that they need.
