The Earliest Records of Café Au Lait Poodles in History

The Poodle is a dog that has been around for centuries, with the earliest records of the breed dating back to the 15th century. There are disagreements over the geographic origins of the Poodle. Some people believe that the Poodle is a French dog, while others link its origins to Russia, Piedmont, and a Northwest African dog breed. The word “poodle” derives from the German word “pudel”, meaning “to splash in water”. This suggests that the poodle was originally bred as a water retriever. Because of this linguistic link, many believe Poodle was originally bred in Germany.

Wherever its true geographic origins, it’s clear the Poodle has been around for centuries and German paintings from the 17th century show dogs that are recognizable as Poodles. However, the term “café au lait” is French, and means “coffee with milk” and this perhaps lends weight to the theory that Poodles are of French origin.

How Café Au Lait Poodles Gained Popularity

Poodles are one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States. But how did they become so popular? They were originally used as hunting dogs, but their popularity began to grow in the early 1800s when they were introduced to France. They became a favorite of the French aristocracy and were often seen in paintings and other works of art. In the late 1800s, Poodles were introduced to America and quickly became one of the most popular dog breeds in the country.

There are many reasons why Poodles have become so popular in the United States. They are intelligent, loyal, and make great companions. They come in a variety of colors—including the stylish café au lait—and sizes, making them perfect for any family.

Formal Recognition of the Café Au Lait Poodle

The Poodle is recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC) and the Fédération Cynologique Internationale (FCI). Poodle breed standards around the world vary depending on the kennel club or organization. The AKC recognizes three sizes of Poodles, while the FCI recognizes four. The FCI divides Poodles into Standard, Medium, Miniature, and Toy categories, while the AKC categorizes them as Standard, Miniature, and Toy.

Poodles come in a wide variety of colors, and the American Kennel Club (AKC) recognizes 11 standard colors: black, blue, gray, brown, silver, silver-beige, red, apricot, cream, white, and café au lait. The Federation Cynologique Internationale (FCI), however, recognizes five Poodle colors: black, white, brown, grey, and fawn.

2. Café Au Lait Poodles Always Have Amber Eyes

Café au lait Poodles’ dark amber eyes make them stand out from the crowd. This is not their only special physical characteristic. The nose, eye-rims, and lips of café au lait Poodles are liver-colored, and despite the dark color of their toenails, they are never black.

3. Café Au Lait Poodles and Silver-Beige Poodles Are Not the Same

Café au lait Poodle puppies are born their true color, and you can tell the eventual color of the adult dog when you look at the puppy. Does a Café Au Lait Poodle Make a Good Pet?

A café au lait Poodle may be a good pet for some people, but not everyone. They are active dogs that need a lot of exercise, so if you’re not someone who likes to keep active, a café au lait Poodle is probably not the right dog for you. They are also considered to be hypoallergenic, which means they don’t shed as much as other dogs and are less likely to cause allergies in people. However, they do require regular grooming, so if you’re not up for taking care of your dog’s coat regularly, you might want to consider another breed.
