Cesar Milan would like this...

Hemlock is the place to go to practice manners and give your dog good exercise. Easy on the paws and cool for a healthy walk. Cesar Milan says that dogs minds are designed to move forward. At dog parks, dogs may get excersize and play-time in, but Cesar thinks that walking forward and respecting a human's presence and leadership is also key to a healthy mind. Well, here's your place. Off-leash fun is not permitted and premises are inspected regularly. Bags are provided as well as water. Trails are all mulch and some wood plank/bridge walking. All shade and lots of other dogs, children and people to greet or pass by. Many hills, climbs...my suggestion is to wear high socks and check for ticks afterwards. We've never found one, but they're around!

Beautiful Trails and Great Views!

We loved our trip to Hemlock Bluffs! The only issue was that the trails aren't as long as we like, so we have to do the same thing over and over. Each of the two trails is a bit over a mile. The one that branches to the left was our favorite--a good portion of it was bridge, and the view down into the river was gorgeous. There were a lot of steps on this one, so if you're not into climbing (Rondo needs some help on the bigger ones) that is something to keep in mind. There are several lookouts along this trail with seats. They looked like decks and were very nice places to stop for doggie hydration time! The trail to the right was pretty too, just not quite as neat as the other. It would be much better for running or jogging, however. There were several lookouts here as well, and some incredibly beautiful views. We also saw several skinks and other small lizards. It was hard to believe that this little haven was in the middle of Cary! I'd definitely recommend checking out for a nice little hike.

Some of the best Squirrel sightings in the area

This is one of my favorite places to go hike. It is so convenient to where we live that it is very easy to pop by after work on a beautiful day and take in some nature while getting our exercise. I'm always so excited when I get to the head of the trail that the nice park ranger lady always asks my mom if she's had my "suspension checked" since I tend to lean to the left in my eagerness to get hiking!
