OK, I'll admit it - I hate it when my Mom goes off with a bag full of treats and a head full of "game" ideas and uses them *on other dogs*! But you know what, she tells me about how she helps other dogs make sense of what humans want of them, and the dogs learn that they will get some of the Good Stuff that they want by behaving in ways that their people want. Mom spends a lot of time learning about dog training - she reads magazines and email groups; she meets with other trainers; she works with the staff and volunteers and the doggies at the Humane Society (which is where I came from!); she goes off to seminars and conferences, and then of course I show her what dogs can really do! And I think she makes things easier for the dogs' people, too!
