Bark Avenue Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization committed to significantly reducing pet overpopulation through spay/neuter, humane education, rescue and re-homing and community outreach.

Because of LA's cultural diversity as well as the myriad of languages and cultural beliefs, we find it is critical to do aggressive spay/neuter outreach in order to address the pet overpopulation crisis in our city.

Los Angeles has been identified as one of the cities having the highest euthanasia rates in the country. With the current economic crisis, people are being forced to abandon their beloved pets at a record rate. These two situations challenge us to urgently address every opportunity to save animals’ lives through Bark Avenue Foundation’s programs and outreach.

Our goal is to serve as a community resource for people (and their animals) in underserved areas in the greater Los Angeles area. We specifically chose to locate in South LA, not far from Skid Row, the USC Campus and the industrial neighborhoods south of downtown. By being in close proximity to the people and animals that need us most, we are able to be a visible and viable community resource for them and are able to provide spay/neuter information, spay/neuter access, and information on humane education, vaccinations, proper nutrition and proper pet care.

Boston Buddies, Inc. is a recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescuing and rehoming of any Boston Terrier or Boston Terrier mix in need. We adopt our rescue Bostons from shelters, take in owner surrenders and rescue strays. Boston Buddies operates primarily throughout Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino, Kern and Ventura counties and surrounding areas.

We are a tiny little rescue with more than 300 cats looking for homes. We promote and advocate spay/neuter and hold weekly adoptions at local Pet Stores to find forever homes for our cats/kittens. We have fosters to bottle feed motherless babies that are left at these pet stores. We practice vigorous TNR and help local feeders of feral colonies learn to trap/neuter/return. We participate in local pet food giveaways and help to provide food for those that cannot afford it and we do it all on donations and on a volunteer basis!!! Currently we cannot take in any more cats/kittens as we are overloaded as it is.

Dogs Without Borders is a non-profit dog rescue dedicated to saving dogs from high-kill shelters in the Los Angeles area, and even hosting rescue dogs from Taiwan. Adoption events are held the first 3 Saturdays of the month from 1:00pm - 4:00pm at Tailwaggers, 1929 N. Bronson Ave, 90068. We rescue all breeds, but specialize in small to medium-sized dogs. We are ALWAYS looking for more foster homes, so please contact us if interested in becoming a foster volunteer!! Friends of Animals is a no-kill cat and dog shelter founded in 1983 in West LA. We are a non-profit placement and rescue organization, registered in Sacramento with the Board of Charitable Trusts. We're run entirely by volunteers, and all our funding comes from private donations and fundraising activities. All contributions are tax-deductible. The Friends of Animals Foundation does not discriminate based of breed or size of the animal. We guarantee a permanent home for the dog or cat and never euthanize an animal when we have difficulty finding a home for it. Friends of Animals doesn't turn away dogs or cats on the basis of disposition or disability. We have rescued dogs and cats that have been seriously injured, that are ill or pregnant or badly traumatized. That's what makes us so special - and we hope that this devotion merits your support. Lange Foundation is dedicated to saving impounded companion animals, and preparing them for their journey to a new safe, loving home. Our mission is to rescue animals in need and to find them kind, caring and loving forever homes. Many of the animals we rescue are those that would be otherwise overlooked. We rescue young and old, the sick, the injured, the disabled and those inexplicably passed over. We provide the necessary medical care, TLC and training in order to prepare them for their journey to a forever home. In addition to saving impounded pets, we have also initiated an ongoing sterilization program to dramatically reduce the number of unwanted pets born in Los Angeles County. We provide funding for spay and neuter surgeries to those pet guardians who are unable to afford the cost. We provide easy access for the pet guardians by sending them a voucher to a Veterinarian whose practice is near their home. Feral cats are also included in this program, and we are proponents of the TNR policy

Santé D’Or Foundation, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit, is a volunteer run animal adoption center and community focused rescue located in Los Angeles, California. Our animals come to us from our streets, are surrendered by residents experiencing extreme financial hardship, a crisis, or those who are no longer able to care for them. We are proud to be directly impacting our local shelters and community by accepting animals who would have otherwise been surrendered and likely euthanized due to overcrowding, or left to roam and reproduce on our city streets. Many of our rescue animals arrive in a sub-optimal state, often affected by a combination of treatable illness, neglect, stress, anxiety, and sometimes abuse. We provide them with necessary medical treatment by a veterinarian and a healthy, natural diet coupled with loving care. Our unique approach to animal rescue and adoption places the focus on the whole health care of rescued animals, as well as the bigger picture of our neighborhoods and the planet at large. Our adoption center is friendly, welcoming and open to the public. We use eco-friendly products, practice conservation, provide quality food free of by-products and use biodegradable litter. People often say when they visit us, “the animals all seem so healthy, calm and happy.” That’s because they are! Our team of caring volunteers works with the animals 7 days a week and unlike most shelters, they are free to roam and play all day. This nurturing approach to socialization directly translates into healthy and well-adjusted animals, who make a great companions. We understand, however, that just as in the human world, not everyone is right for each other, which is why we take a personalized approach to the adoption process. Our clean, healthy, stress-free environment is where our rescue animals do more than survive; they THRIVE.
