Aaaand The Winner Is… Sergeant Bo!

Sergeant Bo

A huge congratulations to Sergeant Bo, who was crowned the American Humane Society’s 2025 Hero Dog Award winner on November 7, 2025! We absolutely did not want to play favorites here at Dogster, but we couldn’t help falling in love with Bo’s cheeky little face and his amazing journey from scruffy rescue dog to an incredible therapy dog, who helped support and comfort the survivors of a shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville.

After tearing his ACL in January 2025, Sgt. Bo retired from the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and his owner and handler, Faye, retired soon after, not wanting to work without Bo by her side. He still visits Covenant weekly and other local schools monthly, helping shy children open up and bringing smiles. Now enjoying retirement with Faye and her husband, Sgt. Bo continues to soothe people of all ages.

Sgt. Bo and the four other finalists will be honored at the 15th Annual American Humane Hero Dog Awards and Gala in Palm Beach on January 9, 2026. Well done to each and every dog and their people, and a special shout-out to Sergeant Bo, who we’re sure will be getting a few extra treats this month!
