Wisconsin’s abundance of lakes and Lake Michigan’s shoreline offer plenty of recreational opportunities for you and your dog. You’ll see from our list that off-leash beach areas are the exception, not the rule in Wisconsin.

When in doubt, keep your dog on a leash when out for a walk on the beaches.

  1. Brunet Island State Park does not allow dogs on the beach. There is a dog run area, but the water is not accessible from it.

    1. Hi Jamie,

Thanks so much for your comment!

We double-checked on the Wisconsin government website and it says the following "The pet run area is near the boat mooring between the South and North campgrounds. Pets are allowed in this area on a leash and there is access to the shore of the Chippewa River."

Please let us know if this information is no longer valid 🙂

Thanks very much and have a great day!
