With about half of the precincts reporting at Dogster Deadline late last night, about 60 percent of Missouri voters had voted “no” on Proposition B, which placed major limitations on dog breeders there. Missouri is known as the “puppy mill capital” of the U.S. You can read more about the bill at the Kansas City Star.
(Update Weds. morning: It won. I thought that might be a good thing, but reading more from my esteemed Dogster commenters, I realize that all is not as it appears on the surface. Apparently this is not the “no puppy mills” savior it was made out to be. Dogster readers, pls feel free to comment on this. I am gone for the day but this is an important issue and I’d love to learn more about it, as would many others.)
