Some GREAT news received from Heather Nagel of Heaven Can Wait in Akron, OH…
As many of you may already be aware, Heather and her team have been INSTRUMENTAL in the campaign to expose the multitude cases of animal cruelty and neglect experienced by many of the impounded dogs and cats at the Summit County Animal Control Facility (SCACF). Within the next month, Heather’s group will be relocating to a new 2,000 square foot adoption and animal awareness center, located adjacent to the historic “Howard Street Corridor” in Akron! Plans for the new two-story facility (which will be open to the public beginning February 19) will include:
1. First Floor: a cattery, a “meet and greet” room, an “items available for donation” room, an animal awareness room, kitchen, and half bath
2. Second Floor: an office, conference room, file and supply room, caretaker room, as well as full bath
3. Basement: a grooming area, pet quarantine area, and their own washer and dryerWhile Heather and her team have many items needed to open this new center, they are still in need of the following:
Stainless steel cattery cages- or any type of cattery cage setup
Small refrigerator
Dishwasher
Crates/cages
Air purifier
Automatic air fresheners and refills
Plug in air fresheners
AA Batteries
Basic kitchen supplies
Grooming table & supplies
Cat tree, cat climbing items
Yard maintenance items (shovels, rakes, lawnmower, etc)
Wheeled food storage containers
Rubbermaid/Rubbermaid type storage totes
Carpet samples
Extension cords
Office Supplies- Paper, envelopes, etc.
Cleaning supplies- bleach, paper towels, floor cleaner for hardwood floors
Trash bags of any size
Energy efficient light bulbs
Vacuum bags (Type Y)
Dishpan/Dishpan size containers for litter box use in cages
Dog collars (any size) and leashes
Cat toys
Rawhides, kong toys, dog toys
Disposable latex gloves- any size
Medical supplies- gauze, iv fluids, anything
Since the team has a van and will be traveling to Columbus February 21-24 for the Midwest Vet Conference, they are willing to pick up any larger donations from Columbus and the surrounding townships during this timeframe.
