Man Doesn’t Feed Dogs For Weeks
I just hope that this abuser gets to spend some time starving!
Please be warned that this story from the New York Daily News is upsetting! I will also tell you that the surviving dogs are now okay and have been adopted.
Chowhound to pen for starving dogs

DAILY NEWS CITY HALL BUREAUA heartless Queens man who was munching on a sandwich when the ASPCA charged him with starving a family of pit bulls can chew on this: 16 months in prison.
It’s an unusually stiff sentence for an animal cruelty case, but one that animal control cops who witnessed the pitiful scene at Keidel Guy’s Rockaway home certainly feel fits the crime.
“It’s a new degree of seriousness for sentencing in an animal cruelty case,” said ASPCA Assistant Director Joseph Pentangelo.
The sentence was announced yesterday by Queens District Attorney Richard Brown after Guy, 20, pleaded guilty to aggravated cruelty charges.
When the ASPCA arrived at the house on Beach 67th St. in October 2005, one of the pit bull puppies was dead. The mother pit bull was so weak she couldn’t walk, and bones were protruding on her mate.
Her surviving emaciated puppy was trying in vain to nurse from her.
There was no food or water in sight.
Guy, who answered the door chowing down on a hero, told ASPCA Special Agents Joseph Lemos and Omar Negrillo that he didn’t have any money to feed the dogs. He admitted the dogs hadn’t been fed in about three weeks.
“My office takes a strong stand against animal cruelty and is committed to aggressively enforcing those laws to protect animals from harm,” Brown said yesterday.
While the mother dog, renamed Damsel, came to the ASPCA hospital near death, Pentangelo said she has recovered and been adopted.
A woman who spotted the sad story in the Daily News came in a few days later and adopted the puppy, now known as Jezebel, he said.
“The closure provided by this sentence is something to be thankful for on this Thanksgiving holiday,” Pentangelo said.
