Guard Dog Loses Control
You’ve probably already heard about the tragic tale of the berserking Barney, the guard dog who lost it in a museum and ripped apart numerous defenseless teddy bears. Here’s the after-the-attack picture of Barney and his handler.
Guard dog Barney and his handler. Barney the guard dog went berserk at a teddy bear exhibition and ripped the stuffing out of Elvis Presley’s beloved bear Mabel, exhibitors said on Thursday. (Wookey Hole Caves/Handout/Reuters)
Can we all say OOOOOPS? There must be some understanding for poor Barney. Can you imagine your dog or dogs locked inside with tons of little fuzzy toys and not allowed to play with even one? The temptation must have been horrible!!!!
And I bet Elvis wouldn’t have really cared if his dogs had ripped up teddy bear Mabel. Elvis loved dogs!
This photo came from Yahoo and Reuters.
Here is Mabel before her unfortunate entanglement with Barney.
This is an undated handout photo issued by Wookey Hole Caves Wednesday Aug. 2, 2006. of a Teddy bear once owned by Elvis Presley named Mabel, before it was damaged by a guard dog that went on the rampage. The 40,000 pound (US$ 75,000 euros 58,000) teddy bear formerly owned by Elvis Presley was one of the bears destroyed when the guard dog which was supposed to protect it went on the rampage Tuesday Aug. 1. 2006 The rare Steiff bear, named Mabel, was due to form the centrepiece of an exhibition at Wookey Hole Caves near Wells, Somerset. The bear was bought at auction in Memphis, Tennessee, by Somerset aristocrat Sir Benjamin Slade and had been loaned to the collection, a Wookey Hole spokesman said. (AP Photo/ Wookey Hole Caves)
Can you imagine the SMELLS on that bear?!?!?! Woo-hoo! No wonder Barney bee-lined for Mabel!
Okay, I know we should all be sad Mabel has suffered such a “death,” but hey, how could Barney know all those interesting smells belonged to an icon?
