English Cocker Spaniel

Cocker Spaniels have long, lustrous hair. That means you can opt for so many different hairstyles, constantly testing out new looks for your prized pup. The next time you visit the groomer, what look are you going for? If you’re sick of the same old haircuts, here are several other varieties to consider.

If you want to keep your pup fresh between trims, invest in a gentle yet effective dog shampoo. A regular at-home grooming schedule will keep their dander and shedding at bay in addition to hydrating their skin and keeping their fur fluffy.

    The 7 Cocker Spaniel Haircuts

    1. The Puppy Cut

The puppy cut is also known as the sport cut, and it’s a trendy choice for many small breeds. While the specifics of this cut vary from groomer to groomer, the basic concept remains the same. It is short, summer-friendly, and super easy!

The puppy cut is approximately 1 inch to 2 inches long, all over the entire body. Since it’s all one length, it’s extremely easy to manage. However, it grows out quite easily, and you must keep up with the daily brushing.

    2. The Show Cut

If you want to give your Cocker Spaniel a very fancy hairdo, even if they’re not involved in shows, this cut is an option. It is the classic Cocker Spaniel cut, used by many competing Cocker Spaniels throughout history.

There are two different versions of this cut: English and American. With the English cuts, the face is kept neat and trimmed. With the American cut, the hair is blended around the ears. In any case, this cut needs constant maintenance, as it is tough to keep it straight and looking professional.

    3. The Catwalk Haircut

Do you want to have them look like a model? This lovely hairstyle accentuates their long, wavy-haired features. It is typically displayed in dog shows as opposed to a regular everyday cut. But you can still give this look to your Cocker Spaniel if you are willing to maintain it.

Even if you choose not to keep the look, it’s fun to try out!

    4. The High & Tight Haircut

This look is neat and tidy. It gives your Cocker Spaniel a clean appearance. However, since your Cocker Spaniel has wavy hair, it will start to fluff out within just a few weeks. So, it might not last as long as some other options.

However, if you know just a few basic trimming skills, you can keep this looking fresh and fit between grooming sessions.

    5. The Princess Haircut

The princess haircut is one of the most spectacular cuts you can give to your Cocker Spaniel. The back is short and flush, while the underbelly and legs are straight, long, and perfectly trimmed around the feet. The ears have a poofy, pigtail-like look.

If you’re trying to maintain this look at home, you will need to blow dry your Cocker Spaniel frequently to keep the coat nice and straight. If you let it go, it will adapt to the curly, free wispy look that we also love!

    6. The Teddy Bear Cut

The teddy bear cut is similar to the puppy cut. However, it aims to give your pup a bit more of a rounded facial structure. They have more hair around the ears and face to give them a teddy bear-like appearance, hence the name.

This cut looks so cute on several long haired breeds. You can’t look at a pup with a teddy bear cut and not ogle over them!

    7. Summer Cut

Who could ask for something better than the summer cut during warmer weather? This short haircut enables your Cocker Spaniel to cool off at any time! This coat style is uniform, and it’s perfect for pups that love to run around and get dirty!

It’s easy to comb out any dirt, dander, and debris, as it does not leave a lot of room to hide. This easy, breezy, beautiful haircut is effortless to maintain, requiring minimal upkeep on your part.

    Conclusion

There are many ways to get creative with your Cocker Spaniel’s long, flowing hair. You can leave it short, have a medium cut, or keep it long and frilly. The potential is endless! You could also learn to groom your Cocker Spaniel yourself and give your pet a whole bunch of original hairstyles you’ve come up with on your own.

Regardless of your choice, your Cocker Spaniel will surely be a real showstopper!
