Boise Fire Department gets twenty oxygen masks for dogs and cats

Associated Press – June 24, 2007 7:24 PM ET

BOISE, Idaho (AP) – The Boise Fire Department has some new equipment to save lives.

The department revealed today twenty new oxygen masks for dogs and cats that inhale smoke during fires.

Boise Deputy Chief Fire Marshall Dave Hanneman says firefighters responding to fires encounter dogs and cats quite often.

He says many people consider their pets to be family members.

A local kennel and pet store called “The Dog House” used money it raised to buy the masks for all fire stations in the Treasure Valley.
