Daytona Beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country, and with so much to do and see there, it’s easy to understand why. The beach itself is a popular tourist destination, and many people wonder if they can take their dog to visit. Unfortunately, Daytona Beach does not allow dogs on the sand, but you can still take them for a walk in certain areas. Keep reading as we explain where dogs are allowed on the famous beach, along with other places nearby that you and your pet might enjoy.
Can I Take My Dog to Daytona Beach?
Boardwalk
Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed on the Daytona Beach coastline. However, you are welcome to walk your dog down the boardwalk as long as you use a leash. There are many great sights along the boardwalk and many small shops to visit. Your pet will get plenty of exercise and enjoy all the excitement.
Select Areas
Along the boardwalk, you may find a few select areas of the beach where you can walk your leashed pet. Fortunately, the beach is much larger than the main area, and there are several other beaches along the coast where you can let the dog run free. There are also a few dog parks in the Daytona Beach city with activity courses, fountains, and other activities that aren’t available at the beach.
Unfortunately, you cannot take your dog to the sandy areas of Daytona Beach. The closest that you can get is the boardwalk, where you can walk your pet with a leash. However, there are several great dog parks near the beach to enjoy. The Halifax Humane Society Dog Park has a large activity course that your pet will enjoy playing in. It also separates large and small dogs, so there is less fighting and provides plenty of room to run. The Reed Canal Park is another great choice, with shady areas that will help you and your pet stay cool on hot days.
