I love amber and now I know why. I can share it with my pack!
They aren’t cheap but the manufacturers of these Amber Dog collars say they repel ticks naturally.
Have you tried these yet? If so, bark in and let the rest of us know how well they work.
Thanks to Pet Topics for this “lead.”
Here’s what the Amber Dog site says about their wares:
First of all, let us inform you, about how it is possible, that a “stone” might have the effect to keep ticks off of your dog:
Amber has an electrical resistance and is supercharging electrostatically through friction with the fur of the animal. This static electricity charge is not noticible for you pet, but is treating the tick, wich is jumping on its fur, with an electric shock and falls of again in a sudden.
Adding to this is also the resinous smell of the amber, wich derives also from the friction of the amber with the fur, and wich ticks dont like. So, amber is working in dual ways against these little bloodsuckers.
