Arrival Story:
I was found as a little pup (9 weeks old) and taken to the pound but because I was young and well fed they thought my owners would come pretty quick so they sent me to the SPCA. My mum came in one day and was sad because she had recently lost my brother(I never met him but ive seen pictures) and she wanted a new brother for my doggy sister Chevy and my human sister too. So she saw me and fell in love right away - even though she usually prefers different types of dogs than me...guess she couldnt resist that paw on the fence huh!! Dad on the other hand was looking at the pup in the cage next to me...luckily my mum wears the pants or else who knows where id be. Anyway mum left and then ive been told she rang back and said she wanted me...the SPCA people told her not to get her hopes up as id only gotten there the day before and they were pretty sure my owners would come as I was such a cutie. They also had to wait a week for them to claim me before they could adopt me out. man my mum tells me she was stressed and rang them like 6 times over that week to make sure she was getting first choice. Anyway turns out my mum was rang and once I had my vaccinations I was allowed to go home. Im really glad I went with mum and dad too coz about 6 other humans had all put their names down for me after my mum in case she changed her mind and if id gone with one of them I might not have gotten spoilt and that would be terrible!!

Lead training

So, its been a while since mum started training me properly on my lead. First she took me to see the man at the SPCA where she got me and he told her it was all her fault because she didnt have a gruff enough voice and that the impression she was giving me was that its ok to do what you want coz mummy will still love you anyway. Anyway he also told her (after walking me round himself and me being absolutely perfect) that there was nothing wrong with my training except that i didnt listen to mum - but it was all there and done and that he reckons i have the potential to be a winning obediance competitor. I dont care about winning but man i sure would love to sniff all the other dogs butts!

Anyway i diverse, i have been really good in the back yard on my lead. mum takes chevy inside so i have no distractions and i can heel, turn (for turning right) and back (for turning left) really well. The other day mum was proud coz i was following her when she went to hang the washing outside and i done all the commands with no lead and with chevy sitting right where i could see her.

I am getting there slowly but mum says i still cant leave the backyard yet coz she knows i will get over excited and rip her arm off. i think next week we are moving onto the driveway once she knows ive got it all down in the backyard with no lead.

Im gonna be real good so we can go for walks along the street....although mum will have to teach me something else then because i find it impossible to ignore other dogs BOL.

Yay, we have had Remus staying with us. My nan is away so mum has been looking after her dog. Its a bit funny though because he has to be on the end of this really long wire thing????? My mum says its because he is an escape artist and nan doesnt trust him to stay in any backyard. Dont tell but my mum let him off the chain to run round the whole backyard with us....and did he go anywhere....NO. Mum says thats probably only because we were there to play with him. When hes at home hes alone and if he got let off he would leap the fence and probably kill/hurt the alpacas next door. He doesnt look like a killer to me!!!

Remus is sooo fun...we race and race and race. We play bite each other in the face. We also play remus lie on your back while I bite your legs, and very occasionally I copy Chevy and hump him....Im not really sure why I do this but Chevy does it so it must be OK.

When I was little I though Remus was huge...now that im a big 1 year old he seems kina small....I am way bigger than him!!! Ok better go I hear Remus barking at me...

Early morning beach fun

Good morning!! It is now 8.30am and we have just gotten back from the beach. We live right across the road from the beach. Its fantastic. Dad took the human baby to school this morning and mum decided we could go to the beach early today. We didnt go for as long as we normally would because mum has to study for her exams next week. When we were walking we came to this house that backs right onto the beach and these two little jack russells came running out right up to me...I tried ot pretend I was tough and put my hackles up a bit to show off but then one of them barked at me and I run so fast behind mums legs it wasnt funny....although she though it was. Secretly I get a bit scared of small dogs...they are all yappy and stuff and it makes me panic. Once I get used to them I am usually ok but when they chase me I run away. Mum says I had that problem at puppy preschool also and would run away from puppies the size of my mouth. I am not as bad anymore though. At the beach mum kept throwing sticks for me but she should know I only play fetch with a tennis ball and only in the backyard. I am not fetching some dirty stick at the beach...some other dog could have had it in his mouth...yech!!! Luckily because it was early the mean dog wasnt at the beach this morning. (there is a mean dog that gos to the beach with its mum and it always bites Chevy. Mum says that later on today she is going to practise me on my lead in the backyard.....I think thats unfair though to bring my lead out and then not even leave the backyard!!!
