Seizures in young dogs.

Morning Folks, first time on the site, not sure how the Q&A works. Anyway, our 3 year old Jack Russell has within the last few days been diagnosed as suffering from seizures. Although not that severe, he's had maybe half a dozen lasting no more than a minute. Our vet has started him on medication, l realize he's probably on quite high doses, but it is upsetting, 1, to see him having a seizure and 2, a confident cocky little fella now looking tired, "stoned" and vulnerable following me around everywhere which he's never done before. What experience have owners had? Does it all settle down in time? ls it fair to allow your best friend/dog to have to go through this?
