Yes. Male dogs are very resourceful and determined when there is a female in heat near by. Fences, open windows, crates or kennels, protective clothing or diapers ... none of them stand a chance. Aside from spaying and neutering, close on leash supervision is the best way to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Very doubtful. I dont think it would be very likely if dogs are on seperate sides of the fence for a tie to ever happen. If they both got on one side of the fence, thats different.

I agree with Gio. It is very possible for a dog to get pregnant through a chain link fence! Or while in a kennel, while wearing a diaper, etc. Male dogs are very attracted to females in heat and have a strong urge to mate, so owners who have a female dog in heat need to keep the female on a leash at all times when outside and under close supervision. The female should be separated from any intact males.

Simply put, yes they can. If you don't plan to breed her, spay her.

100% Possible AND Probable! My Mom had Labs about 15 years ago and one was going through a silent heat...and was bred through the chain link fence.
A bitch in season should never be left in a pen unattended - just to be on the safe side, keep her separate and safe for a whole month. She can get bred SEVERAL TIMES by different dogs, too.
I agree with whoever suggested spaying and neutering!
