I'm adopting a puppy chihuahua

and I will be with him most of my time, but the problem is I have to go to university 5 hours a day during weekdays, and she'd be alone for that time... would that be bad for him? I'm only actually leaving him alone after he's around 5 months old though

Well, he won't like it, but its something he can get used to, and be SO exuberant to see you when you return. I'm generally against Crating, but if you have a reasonably open area you can confine him in, like a Bathroom, Utility, just somewhere that he'll have a place to potty, sleep, food, water and a few toys to keep him occupied till you return.
