Chessies do get stinky after swimming in lakes/ponds/rivers. I give Stinger a good bath about every 3 or 4 weeks (or before she has a show). Whenever she goes swimming I rinse her off with clean water from a hose or put her in a tub. I rinse her until the water is pretty clean and then dry her with a blow dryer or put her in a crate with a fan on her. It seems to help with the smell.

Every dog is different with what their skin and coat can tolerate. I give mine a bath every 1-2 weeks in the summer.
