flea medicine application when you have two dogs

I have two dogs. I am afraid to use the topical flea rx for fear one dog will lick it off of the other. Any suggestions as to how I can apply it?

I have ten dogs and three cats. When it's time to apply their flea meds I just put everyone in their crates and they stay in them until it's dry, usually a couple of hours at the most. During that time I launder everyone's bed so they are fresh and clean when they come back out of their crates.
