7-month old Jap Spitz won't eat dog food after tasting people food.
I have her for 3 weeks now. She's been eating the same dry food twice a day. Now she just smells it.
She just got her 6-1 vaccination exactly a week ago and I heard that sometimes they lose their appetite after shots. I was so worried that she'll get weak after not eating for a day and a half so one night, I made a mistake of giving her table food (Rice and shredded bits of beef steak). She ate that. And now, she won't eat anymore.
I've been firm with her, taking away her untouched food after 15 min. and not feeding her again till the next scheduled time. I know I should practice tough love but it's really hard seeing her like that. I know she's hungry but she's holding out on herself. Last night she ate a few bits but that's it. It's been 4 days now and I'm getting worried. She still plays and is energetic but she's losing weight. She won't be seeing her vet till next week. What do I do next?
Should I mix something on her food? Wait on it? Is this normal or is she sick already?:(

Might be a reaction th the vaccine, try putting giving her 2 tbs plain yogurt mixed with 2 tbs solid pack pumpkin then her food 30 minutes later. If need be add half a tsp honey to get her to eat the pumpkin/yogurt mix.

I would take her in to get checked out before anything. Then if she is fine you have to do the tough love thing, only offer her her food, if its just you can leave it out all day, she may be a graiser(a lot of small dogs are) if she doesnt eat then she doesnt eat, do not give in or you will forever have a spoiled dog. Also you can mix in wet food w/ the dry, i do that w/ Lucy, shes very picky, but if she doesnt eat that you have to take it away after about a half hr because it will go bad, then try again next meal. This is what worked for me when my 4 month old puppy startted rejecting her food(not sure why she did it) but mixing wet and dry helped and she eats fine now.

What is wrong with "people food"?
Dog food has only been around for 70 years and dogs have been around for millions.
What did dogs eat before dog food? They ate organ meat, and scraps.
While I am not advocating scraps maybe you should re think the whole dog food concept.
I home cook for my dog.
I also give supplements.
A Spitz needs a high level of protein.
