I have the same problem with my puppy mill rescue. She is on Valium, but it has not helped at all. I am trying to find pheromone spray that is supposed to calm her down. At least, it will be cheaper. I have been told that she has bonded with my other dog and because of that, I will have problems getting her to bond with me. I find that sending her to daycare helps a lot. She has improved somewhat in the five months I have had her, but the steps are very small and very slow. I am working with a dog psychologist who suggested that I not speak to her for a week. That too had no result. My next appointment is in one week. I am going to continue to send her to daycare in the meantime. So far, that seems to work best. She too is afraid of everything, books, my laptop, etc. I have started leaving books under my bed where she likes to hide out. That seems to be working. What can I say? Just be patient and give her lots of love!
