I have a 9 year old Great Dane and his coat seems to constantly be dirty, dry, and oily all at the same time. He sheds horribly. When I brush him his skin flakes and I can't pet him without my hand being covered with a black film afterwards. This even happens within days of bathing him. I only bathe him about once a month because I don't want to dry his skin out even worse. I have tried different shampoos and I brush him as often as I can. I have considered adding an oil to his food (he is currently on Purina One Focus for seniors) to help with the dryness of his coat, but I'm worried that will only make his coat more oily than it already is. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated?
