Whether you’re looking for something traditionally Scottish, cute, simple, funny, or downright bizarre, we’ve got the works here. These aren’t just random picks, either—each one has been very carefully chosen as a name potentially worthy of being worn by your proud, upstanding Scottie! We’ll also share some top tips on how to choose your Scottish Terrier’s name.

How to Name Your Scottish Terrier

If you’re stuck choosing a scottie dog name, there are a few things you can consider to narrow your choices down a bit. For us, one of the best ways to get ideas for names is to consider how your dog looks and what their personality is like.

Before a new dog comes home, some of us spend quite a bit of time daydreaming about the perfect name, but when the dog actually arrives, it just doesn’t quite suit them in the way you thought it might. There’s no need to feel pressured into choosing a name immediately. Spend a bit of time with your dog getting to know them before making your decision.

Scottish Terriers, for example, are typically black, small, stocky, well-built dogs with long, bearded snouts. They tend to have somewhat solemn, serious-looking faces—an aura they give off in general.

They’re also known for being quite feisty and courageous. Based on these personality traits, you might go for something classy and dignified or name your Scottie after a brave historical figure, for example.
